Where to go Week 16

Post by Emily Mitchell »

Volt (https://www.simhorseracing.com/horse.ph ... ID=1237527) has me a bit confused.

Do you think it'd be worth trying the classic? Go crazy and try the marathon?

Or is he possibly just not good enough at 1 1/4 miles and I need to stick to 1 1/8?

He did beat Prince Rambling at 1 1/8

To be honest I donโ€™t think he would get in the classic just off his point total if that helps you figure things out . I could be wrong

He does seem to like 1 1/8, but his tests at longer have been pretty big ones.. The Triple Crown is scary!

Since he's 3, I'm inclined to suggest something a little different... Perhaps try him at 1 1/4 again and do it Week 16 Day 1 in the Panama International. It's a Grade One, it's age restricted, and I suspect he'll pull off nice win there and prove that he can stomp at 1 1/4,or, he'll bomb it and we'll be able to say with more certainty that he truly is a 1 1/8 specialist.
Then, go for the big money next season!

Or, do whatever your heart desires because this is one heck of a nice colt, anything is possible, and the whole point here is to race fake horses and have fun :)

Hmm that's probably a good idea. I just drool at even 5th place money in the classic

I understand your will (and also concerns) about entering either the Classic or Marathon.
I entered Crayon as a 3 year old in the Classic (with only 150k in earnings), and me too was also tempted to snatch the 5th place money, but ended up taking the 1st place money instead.
Crayon was lucky that he didn't get scratched, because he was the lowest in points in the field. So he was plain lucky he did not get bumped.

I would agree on what the others has said above, since your real concerns are the distance.

Hey guys! Just wanted to say thanks for the suggestions again! Volt ended up winning the Panama International at 1 1/4! So he can handle the distance after all
