17 Hands High

Post by Jon Xett »

Jumping into the Way Back machine, before there were SIM bells and whistles, I remember making an "ugg" sound whenever my new horse turned out to be 17 hands high. (I know, I know you all say tall but high makes me smile.) The reason being is that way back when, the 17 hands high horse seemed to need more time to develop, sweeping, not tight turns, and less crowded race fields with more room to move. This reasoning may have been my faulty logic when an amazon filly or stocky colt just never seemed to do consistently well but would jump up every now and again for an impressive win. Do 15 hands low horses excel at tight turn tracks and are they more nimble in a crowd? I seem to be getting more 17 hands high horses recently; Denzel, Can't We Be Friends and my new filly Big Love of Life. Have you noticed an increase in the 17ers? Who is the tallest SIM horse you have?

Happy Year-59 Week-1 Day-1 everyone. Have a fun and pleasant SIM year. jX

Well, Crayon is 17 hh, and he started out slow as a 3 year old xD
He needed some extra time to grow into his big racing plates ^^''

I have a 3 year old filly who just graduated to Freak being a Late Bloomer. Who stands 17 hands.

I understand height is no longer an issue but I still like seeing my Dirt Routers all around 16 hands.

Not too small. Not too large. Just right!
