Also, an easy way to get money out is to charge for your advice. I’ve seen posted on the forums the last couple days that “I reached out to the Steward for her thoughts” at least a few times. I know when I listen to race calls people are texting you and commenting/asking/seeking advice or thoughts.

I’m guilty of asking your thoughts on races, breeding, etc. (and I always feel awkward asking, but I know others do it, and told me to reach out to you, but still feel weird doing it). I’m not sure how I join the club that can text you, but your time is money and you should charge people for it. Obviously it would be universal but I’m sure you could stagger it in terms of its a new player asking a question, type of question, etc.

An Ask the Steward button, again, you’re already doing this. I think you can always say no can’t answer that, but seems an easy thing to do

I like this suggestion. Pay in sim money and get one question answered or get one advice, most likely cryptic, but that's fine ^^

Em just needs to stand more epic studs so people breed to them and the money goes to nobody but out of the game. Im too poor to contribute much to this discussion but that was my two cents throw down LOL.

Maybe make all RL Horses stand for stud through Em instead of selling them. If you sell them, people just make the money back with stud fees, no?

I'd also pay money to test mares or studs breeding potential before they are retired.

I like these discussions, personally. They’re sure a good deal more interesting than “Hey my horse did great!” “Great job! You’re rad!” threads. Nothing wrong with those, of course, but they get a little juvenile after a while. YMMV, obviously.

I do too! The fact that so many people are jumping on this thread, missing the point entirely, and alternately getting furious at me or saying stuff like "title say quick but thread actually long..." is really, really funny to me. One of my all-time great trolls.

I’m not convinced taking money out of the game is necessary at all. The stew has said it’s a problem on many occasions but I still don’t quite get why, 95% of the time all that money is just meaningless numbers that sit in an owners account, doing exactly zero.

I'm not at all convinced of it either.

One thing I’m pretty sure of (again, assuming this actually is a problem) is that the give us more things to spend money on idea (not responding directly to you Danny, just to the idea) just ain’t gonna do it. Why? Because it hasn’t done it.

I joined sixteen RL years ago, this has been talked about ad nauseum since then and probably a lot longer than that. If more things to spend money on was going to solve this “problem” it would have been solved at least 10 years ago.

If for some unexplained reason Tim's tithe plan would be enacted, a number of players would quit because of its association with Tim and his very ineffective and toxic manner at trying to convince others that his ideas have merit. By far, Tim is the worst in the Sim at the art of persuasion.

God bless you, Durzo, for your efforts in this thread. I think you have a point. However, since purse cuts are still happening, it seems that TBS auctions simply aren't doing enough to solve the alleged problem at hand.

I've got it...

A special fund is set up each year with a goal amount the powers that be want taken out of the game. A link to donate to said fund as well as how close it is to the goal is linked in the steward's notices on the home page. If the fund's goal is reached all discussions of tithes, fees, taxes, etc are banned for a year. I feel there's a lot of people that would pay good money for these discussions to go away.

I like this idea, but instead, all the money goes to me. If the goal money is not met, then I post about this once every three months forever.

Am I:
1. very angry? No
2. mentally ill; insane? No but I am 65 YO so maybe I am experiencing "senior moments"
3. unable to think in a clear or sensible way? probably, from Tim's perspective

Do I think Tim is:
1. very angry? No -- he even used in his last reply
2. mentally ill; insane? No
3. unable to think in a clear or sensible way? at times

Prediction:
(a) Tim will post a reply arguing about "at times" [70%]
(b) Tim will post a reply but not about (a) [20%]'
(c) Tim will not reply [10%]
If I was Tim, I would not bother to reply to someone so mad.

So anyway, back to the thread:

I meant to respond to this earlier. Perhaps I chose the wrong word with "unnoticeable." But if you go back and look at my original proposal, Dave, I don't think it will be as dramatic as you think. For example, someone with $2m in the bank would only be tithing $10k. Pretty close to unnoticeable, in my opinion.

I'd like to thank everyone who has participated substantively and in good faith! I'd also like to thank everyone who is not acting pathetic out of anger! Let's continue to keep the conversation focused from now on.

Unfortunately once I start getting a bunch of "reports" on a thread I don't have the energy or time for that, so unfortunately this thread - which I think probably had a real purpose in the beginning and has had some really cool insights - has to die.
