I agree that a bad yearling crop is but after a few weeks you’re over it.
When you have a freak, you spend their whole yearling year dreaming of their glory (and sometimes pet of their 2yo year if they are mile/route) and it runs like you keep having some hope that they’ll run better next time…until your soul is devastated through and through

For me it is definitely a bad crop of yearlings because then I have nothing to look forward to. A good yearling sparks my interest in the game so when I get none or even just one (if they are a slow working freak) then I lose interest and forget to enter things LOL

My first thought was ‘all of the above’. After some thought, for me it’s a toss up between a sad freak and a good race mare who won’t produce (even when she’s listed as blue hen). You have time and effort invested in both options and they throw blanks…kinda sucks.

It's been a few weeks and I'm still not over Luxuria giving me a peak claimer, after all of her other foals were freaksRochelle Zahacy wrote: ↑2 years ago I agree that a bad yearling crop is but after a few weeks you’re over it.

I said this to you in response to your email, but the Chimbo does NOT require a nomination! viewtopic.php?f=20&t=19463Pepper Carol wrote: ↑2 years ago Having a good horse reaching his peak and pointed him toward a very lucrative race only to find out the race requires pre-entry and I'm out of luck. Sorry I had myself all worked up over that one only to find out I had nothing to be concerned about. The Steward wrote: ↑2 years agoI said this to you in response to your email, but the Chimbo does NOT require a nomination! viewtopic.php?f=20&t=19463Pepper Carol wrote: ↑2 years ago Having a good horse reaching his peak and pointed him toward a very lucrative race only to find out the race requires pre-entry and I'm out of luck. For me, it's got to be coming to the forum with a great idea on how to take money out of the game only to have other players claim that the idea is taxes and thus shoot it down.

I am a very impatient person, so it's definitely a combo of waiting all week for an exciting horse to run, only for it to stink, AND waiting for a Stakes/Freak to come of age, only for it to not run well.

I don't get too worked up about my yearlings as a whole, but I get really * at those high hypoing BHs that just refuse to produce a damn thing. Yeah, the yearlings have a lasting effect on your barn, but that unfounded hope you have for the sad BH, year after year, foal after foal? Do not like.

I can see the foal crop crushing me! I’ve acquired some really nice mares, done a lot of research and bred them to expensive studs. I will be ruined if all I ge this claimers

Imagine for a moment, you breed your finest producing blue hen to the premier stud in the game (DMB) and as a result wind up with a 'productive peak?' It was a full fledged outcross breeding and obviously not a very good one!!! That one still smarts!Laura Smith wrote: ↑2 years ago I don't get too worked up about my yearlings as a whole, but I get really * at those high hypoing BHs that just refuse to produce a damn thing. I think mine is having played for SO long and I still don’t have a decent female line in my barn. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve had some real luck with breeding colts but good lord I’m useless at breeding a good mare who can then produce good mares.
