What a day. Up at 4:30, long day at work, got called by a farmer friend to come butcher a sheep (a normal part of all normal people's days, right?!) and only NOW at 5pm am I *finally* sitting down to my gallops.
They're okaaaaay.

No TB freaks; 10 stakes:
Northern Avenger-Thingsweneverwere
Northern Avenger-Larix
Wait for Daylight-As it Seems
Wait for Daylight-Kilmainham Jail
Talus-See You Anymore
Lord Black-Vice and Virtue
Ahtohallan-Igaveyoumyheart
Crystal Ocean-St. Mary River -versatile!
Space Blues-Saturn Bird
Battaash-Stars Are My Map -versatile!

Something nice was that for once, my better mares mostly threw alw or better. It always seems like, every year, I have at least 4-5 really, really nice mares throw peak claimers. This year everyone seemed to do okay and it was the crappier mares that (mostly) made the crappiest babies.
LONG OVERDUE FARM: Keepin' it Canada since Year 16.
Stallions to meet your every need. As long as you need a turf sprinter.

I only breed turf milers, pretty much on par with what I've gotten the last few years

Stakes 1 (12.5%) (Fearless Spirit, shocking I know)
Allowance = 3 (37.5%)
Productive = 2 (25%)
Claimer = 2 (25%)

Total = 8

I'm still 100% on breeding TB claimers; I bred one TB last yea and two this year, all the same. At least my main Arabian crop turned out better on average than last year (even with no real standouts).

Absolutely awful yearlings, at least currently. Bred more than ever (215ish) and got one freak. At least it was the one I wanted more than any of them: a colt by War Like Me and out of Sky Full of Stars.

There are a fair few well bred and late blooming allowance and stakes, so there is some hope.

Will update later with the older horses. My big excitement of the night besides the above colt was Dream By Day (7 of 9 in her career and multiple graded stakes wins) finally matured and is a freak.

Final stats for the yearlings:

215 Yearlings
1 Freak
16 Stakes (13 progressive or late bloomer)
59 Allowance (52 progressive or late bloomer)
67 Productive (61 progressive or late bloomer)
26 Solid
46 Claimer (OUCH there are some mares needing culled rat now)

Freak: War Like Me x Sky Full of Stars

Stakes:

Prince Louder x Fairytale's A Lie
Prince Louder x Blame Canada
War Like Me x To Stardom
War Like Me x Crystal Singer
War Like Me x Ibtihaj
War Like Me x Heart Hold Fast
Castles Crumble x Fan the Fires
Castles Crumble x Royalaspen
Castles Crumble x Soli Deo Gloria
Can't Take the Sky x Mountain Party
Can't Take the Sky x Stars That Fall
Follow Your Fate x Lift Up Your Voice
Racing Heartbeat x Sign in the Sky
Dave Matthews Band x Floral Bonnett
Dave Matthews Band x Addicted to Kisses
World of Color x Just Above

Older horses improving are, as usual, quite good to me, but I honestly expect more to mature at mid year than at the beginning of the year. My lovely TM filly Dream By Day finally matured to freak.

Four-year-olds Very Rebellious, Something Spectral and This Dark Music all went from allowance to stakes. Three year olds Don't Ask Don't Tell, Step to Me and With Miracles also improved allowance to stakes.

I bred 120 TB yearlings, and overall I think I'm pretty happy with the results. No yearling freaks yet again, but I did get 10 stakes, 9 of which are fillies, so that makes me hopeful for things down the road. I'm happiest with my turf sprinters - bred six, got two stakes LBs! I also got a good handful of allowances across divisions, so can't complain.

Stakes horses are by:
Strong and Free (x2)
Owlpha Romeo (x2)
Kentucky Storm
Farseer
Witted
Delirium
Follow Your Fate
World of Color

I also had Speak Truths jump up to freak from stakes LB, so that was fun!

I bred 102 TB foals:

3 Freaks
10 Stakes
32 Allowance
33 Productive
11 Solid
13 Claimer
0 DC (did not get any of my chasers bred)

Overall quite happy with my gallops this time. A bit disappointed I did not get a bit better in my AWRs. OK, but not great. Maybe next year.

My babies were meh. Out of 136 I have no freaks, one stakes LB, 24 allowance, and 43 productive. One confused chaser galloped allowance LB. Most of the horses I had really high hopes for are at least allowance or productive, with improve potential. So that was ok, but not great. On the bright side the fillies It's OK California and I Am Nightraider both improved to freak and I had about 5-6 horses improve to stakes. So not a total triumph but a few good surprises.
