Re: Simmy Voting
I also feel horses who didn’t win a stakes in the region shouldn’t be on the list

Ah yes. The logic, for better or worse, is that horses #11 and up all have the same points as the 10th horse. In other words, if the 10th horse is nominated, then those others should also be on the list since they share the same point total.Danny Derby wrote: ↑2 years agoHere's the divisions I see with more than 10:The Admin wrote: ↑2 years agoCan you tell me which categories have way more than 10 horses? An idea for future years. Perhaps any horse that doesn't have a G1 win in their respective division automatically gets removed from the nomination list? I see lots of instances where horses without a G1 win are still nominated, I think that's a fair cut off for a bare minimum criteria.
Re: Simmy Voting
I love this! It's a very long list but once mixers and TBs are split again then it'll be very nice. Of course I only vote in my divisions, which this year was Paint only, didn't bother with the Arabs so no big deal having a long list to scroll through. Really like having the point total and stakes wins listed

Re: Simmy Voting
I love the format, but did the computer find the horses with the greatest number of graded wins or was it researched by individuals? I have a similar huh moment with Windborn. He got 100 pts for winning a G1 in South Africa, whereas two of the other nominees for African 3 yo male had 80 & 76 points. Both of those colts had 2 wins in Africa, but other categories have nominees with only 1 win in their nominated category. I'm not saying Windborn would or should win, but if it's points, the highest point earners need to be the nominees

Considering the hundreds of horses running in each division, it's an honor just to be among the finalists

A G1 is worth 100 points but it is only 50 to the winner I believe (computer did this, not us)Leigh Ann Anderson wrote: ↑2 years ago I love the format, but did the computer find the horses with the greatest number of graded wins or was it researched by individuals? Re: Simmy Voting
I have a question. Not necessarily about the format change, but the Simmy’s in general. Since this is the new format though, I will ask pertaining to it. If a horse is nominated in a regional category, i.e., Africa, are the stakes wins given, only for their races in Africa?

Looking at my horse Me, Myself and Lie - nominated for African Champion Sprinter, only her African wins are listed, not her SC win.Eric Gray wrote: ↑2 years ago I have a question. Re: Simmy Voting
This is a very nice change. Thank you. For me, the new format allowed me to have fun voting for Simmy awards in divisions other than TB / North America/Europe. I scanned the points and wins to narrow my votes and then clicked on the horses to see the past performance results before I made my final selections. Previous tools were to tedious for me to do the work to make a fair decision. I did like horses that competed more that a 'quick cup of coffee" in a region. This was fun. Good job.

Re: Simmy Voting
While some divisions this makes sense say European 3yos I think it would be very problematic in other divisions and mixers where there may only be 1 or 2 Grade 1s a year a horse can attemptDanny Derby wrote: ↑2 years ago

Based on the above comments and others in this thread, I would recommend using tab widgets with a separate submit button for the votes inside each tab.Nick Gilmore wrote: ↑2 years agoI love this idea. For example, mixer voting would have a tab for each type. In a similar vein, TB voting would be split into tabs by region.

Re: Simmy Voting
I found the process much easier; when I first saw the list it was a little overwhelming, but having the points and the grade of races helped a lot, so I could focus on G1 winners and highest points - depending on division/location
I'm just here for the fun of it

Song of the Sheikh got shorted by 50 points and a G1 win on the ballot because it didn't count the Saudi Cup and it seems it cost her on the voting :/
