Getting this post. I have a 3yo freak LB TR filly that I am pretty much OVER.

I didn't deliberately make dirt routing the main focus of my barn pretty much ever, but found myself with a couple good female lines and then a stallion from one that needed mares. Now several stallions that need mares, so I keep investing, of course. But good grief, DR makes me angry at the entire world, so I feel this post big time.

If you want a division that will break your heart, dirt routing is definitely it! Stick to turf, much more stakes races all over the world lol but you won't be as rich so you can either hope for a miracle and stick to DR or be poor and go turf 😂

Just for a case in point about heartbreak, these are my dirt router freaks currently

I have had very limited success in dirt routing, although it does not keep me from maintaining a broodmare band in that division. The last really nice DR runner I had was Father Ralph (who turned out to be a really great broodmare sire - just not in my homebred broodmares).

Hats off to those who remain competitive in that division.

Dirt routing is tough but still very addictive. Even though I'm looking to transition back to dirt sprinting, I still have in my racing barn: 15 DR and 6 DS, in my training barn I have 3 of each and in my breeding shed I have 2 DR homebreds, a DS mare and a homebred colt. One never knows when that DR stakes or freak galloper will suddenly become the next big horse in the toughest division and win a classic race.

Here's a freak half sister to derby winner Rathalos who isn't even competitive in nw2 races

Yes, I've complained about this filly on the forums before lol

Keeping her because maybe she's being weighed down by a solid gold uterus 🤣

I think she will appreciate going a little longer honestly.

Just put her in a barrier trial and then raced her in a nw2 at 1 1/2. 2nd with an 86. I think the game actually meant she's a freak as in "freakin' underwhelming"
