All you can count on is the horse improving by .01% sometime before it turns 12.
Rather than saying a negligible improvement, did you just made up a small number (.01%) to sound more authoritative? If this is not the case, please explain why the minimal improvement is .01%.
I've hacked deep into the SIM's code and verified that the minimal improvement is actually .0069420%, which I then rounded up to .01%. Please don't ask me any follow up questions, I won't be answering them.
I do not believe this explanation. I think these numbers are made up.

Recently, Art K posted some late blooming allowance gallopers for sale. I wondered what percentage of these horses would jump to stakes or freak. I realized that I could only make a guess. But I had no data to back up my guess. Has anyone tabulated any data on gallup improvements?

Yes, in my limited time here, the horse runs its way before the gallop change...the switch in gallop has done little to change the running styles/achievments of my horses...can someone send me a link to horse that has improved over night (in running lines) I dont think I have ever seen a running line of a 2/3/4 year old allowance runner/achiever then becoming a multiple graded stakes winner week after week at say 4 or 5. But, again very limited exposure. But it does seem they come out of the box or within a few races having shown their mettle or not.

John I am still holding out on my first horse that i bought will improve after 5 last place races...he was first to the first marker and then went back to his favorite position. I am not giving up on him.. He still might be a freak!! I just know it.....

Show No Fear went from 4th in a state-bred stakes as a stakes galloper to winning a G3 as a freak (and placing in some other graded stakes); though her top speed figure only went from 91 as a stakes to 92 as a freak
I'm just here for the fun of it

Its Danny, thats what he does best. He probably lost a G1 race and is sad.

So my actual intent on this was a gentle reminder to players who may not know better that spending large amounts of money on a not very good "late bloomer" simply because they're for sure going to improve to a freak isn't necessarily the best plan.

Are you sure? Though nobody should pay big money for any horse unless its working lights out or has diamond ovaries.

I wonder if we would have disgruntled responses here if someone other than Danny had posted this...

Take improver comments with a grain of salt so small you can't even taste it. Gallop comments too, for that matter. None of that matters, ever. The only thing that matters is how a horse runs on the track.

Sometimes when you guys post I get a little insight into just how tough the DR division really is. An elite horse is really diamond and pretty rare, it seems.

In another thread, you recommended Slickrock. When I looked at stallions producing stakes winners (Total Stakes Winners), Slickrock does extremely well given the mares he has covered (Stakes Producers Covered). Freaks are nice but stakes winners are better -- particularly with DRs, in which there are so many freaks.
