It's going to be a tough race. I just hope all the fillies finish up front. : )
I'm so biased...and what's worse, I'm not even shameful about it...lol   8-)

Wouldn’t it be cool to have colt only big races

I don't see anything cool about blocking a filly from racing against the boys in a big purse race.
It's not too often that a filly/mare can beat the males in those big races anyways, and if someone happens to have a filly that has a good chance of doing so and winning some big purse money then the owner shouldn't be penalized just because their racer is female.

It's just like the Chicago Million...in 55 years of it being run...there was only a total of 20 filly entries in that race, with Roughian running in it 4 of those 20 times. Yet, only 2 fillies ever won that race, Fiji Nights back in Year 14 and Malcontent in Year 60.

The Arc...same thing...I don't think that even a handful of fillies have over won it...although many have entered the race over the decades.

I don't think there's a big purse open G1 out there that has ever been dominated by fillies. So it's not that big of a deal as on average, you'll see a male win more often than not.

Yup Andrew. Colts can't enter races for fillies, totally unfair that fillies should be able to enter races meant for colts!

I don't think there's much reason to have colt-only TB races, but I could see an argument for this in mixers, at least for certain breeds where it can be hard even for nice colts to limp over the 350k mark. Not big races, but the bread-and-butter 50k listed stakes (which I have had fillies enter and win).

I like Jerusalem. If someone had a pure stalker type they could maybe beat out the closer fillies. There’s some front runners. It’ll be who can run the hardest to close, and who gets the best spot to start. All that good *.

I was inspired to enter my ok dude into the other desert turf race.

Mine likes to stalk but I think 12f is on the longer end for her. There is plenty of speed but whether she could hold off the hard charges of either/both Jerusalem and Malcontent is a question.

I've been avoiding them for that reason but then I looked at the top horses and most vets let them try the big races, even when they get beaten. It occurred to me that if I am finishing first or second every time then maybe I am being too conservative and should step things up.

I feel like we're all letting Cleo and Sellers off too easy in the other race.

I think you should sic Jerusalem on them!
I'll keep Malcontent in the Turf Classic and do the same, have her chase down the leaders...but on her own.

I just know this would work...Wile E Coyote couldn't come up with a better plan that that !!!

Stormy 8-)
