63yr Bucked shins and barren mares...

Post by Craig Mcgee »

This season only 3 bucked shins and 1 old formidable barren mare that got sent to the track to be a stable pony. What did you all get?

2 bucked shins and 2 barren mares. No worries. (But I only got horse alert messages about the shins, not the mares. Was surprised but perhaps that's the way it is...?)

0 bucked shins, 2 barren mares, did not get a horse alert on either of the mares. both are 'some potential' which I like to breed once or twice to see what they throw, but I appreciate them taking one for the team and my hens and starts being left alone

I believe I’m clean although I’m in my phone so I’m not sure.

All 7 of my stallions are insured. Some one correct me if I'm wrong, I always thought the Barren or Infertile bug could hit a mare or stallion even if they are insured?

Nope!

From the topic in the help section:
What Does Insurance Get Me?
Insurance is for life. If you insure a foal, there is no chance that that horse will ever be randomly injured, OR hit by the bucked shins/barren/infertile bug. This means that if you have a good stallion, insurance will make it so you never miss a year, etc. Because insurance is for life, it cannot be transferred. If the horse is sold insured, it remains insured.

Thanks, Nicole. I'm happy to hear that!

No Bucked Shins
Only 1 'potential type' broodmare, age 21, was barren.

I got off easier this year than last year, when, I think I got 1 bucked shinned, and 3 barren mares
