Y63 Festivus - How'd you do?

Post by Nini Panini »

I only bred 22 foals last year and was a little worried I bred too few and the slide wouldn't be kind to me. Thankfully I did breed one freak, and he's my favorite foal of the crop!

198 TB foals
1 stakes (peak)
23 allowance
82 productive
29 solid
62 claimer
1 DC

I'm hoping that getting more productives than claimers means I'm finally improving a bit.

Awful, as always. 356 total foals across all breeds, a whopping 1 freak again.

17 allowance
45 productive
24 solid
45 claimer
11 different career

Fortunately, I had overwhelmingly more late bloomers than anything else, and honestly a lot of the claimers were just me breeding low quality mares to keep the filly/colt ratio okay so the fillies I wanted I could get for free.

The ones I'm most excited about are:

62 Love And Monsters, allowance progressive, bred on a lease so I'm always happy when the one foal I get from a mare is a nice one.

62 Outlawed, also bred on a lease, out of Roughian's full sister. Allowance LB so hopefully will wind up stakes.

Aftershow, Allowance LB whose 3/4 brother is a stakes winner. He peaked (freak but stakes after adjustment) at his yearling festivus so hopefully I can get a longer career from this one.

First Steam, the first Steamboat Willie ever bred, out of a mare who has given me a stakes, a productive, and now 2 allowance gallopers since she came into my ownership.

Sorry For The Delay, also from a lease, allowance LB, named after the simmy voting and festivus yesterday/today ;)

I seem to be incapable of breeding TBs that are born freak, but since several stakes bloomers in the past have turned out very nicely for me, I have no complaints! 8 stakes in multiple divisions, several of which are late bloomers/breeding shed comment, so the future looks bright.

A couple of decent-looking mixers, too, most notably a freak bloomer half-sister to my SC trotter The Groke.

I think worst year ever................... About as bad as my Breeders Cup luck yesterday. There may be some significant reduction auctions in my near future. Is it close enough to Christmas to "Ba Humbug?"

Change from last year and total training barn composition

+ 300% in stakes (1.6%)
+10.6% in allowance gallopers (30%)
+ 7.4% in prods (39.4%)
- 8.5% solids (10.5%)
- 11% claimers (18%)

AT least trending in the right direction... and first foaled stakes - still no freaks 0 for 2 crops
