Not sure to be happy or sad about this
This 'Late Bloomer'
As a yearling, she galloped Stakes,
~Then the adjustment happened and she was downgraded to an Allowance.
She wasn't doing that great in her two year old season, ran 4 races and couldn't break her maiden.
~Then this year, she won her 1st and 2nd race.
So, I decided to talent check her -- hoping she upgraded to a stakes again.
~NOPE....didn't upgrade to a stakes....
She's a Freak Peak. But...has a timid heart.
~Now I have hope for her...but the timid heart...will she be a real Freak, or a sad freak? .
Profited
I love that she has Shahir'ra on both top and bottom of her pedigree where that mare would be an influence. So I am hoping she might end up a Blue Hen broodmare someday too.
The dam of Profited, Foreclose, was a 'good' type broodmare, and I only bred her 3 times. She was 20 years old the last time I bred her, and got a filly by Improvisational. That filly, is 2 now, and is a productive progressive. Foreclose's first foal is 17 years old now and was a claimer.
I think the additional distance, is also another factor for Profited doing well. I think she needed something more than the 1 1/8th distance, but I am just hoping she will be a real freak. Guess I'll find out in her next race, as I'm going to toss her into a graded race and hope she does well.

Ima Shakeit Inyoface was freak- timid. Don't loose hope because your horse is timid.

interesting that your 'timid' horse had a number of 'gamely in the stretch' race calls.

Re: Not sure to be happy or sad about this
I have had several timid G1 winners in the past. I just race them like I would any other runner. The horses have always had a "heart" tied to them; we can just see it now. Good Luck!

Well, I'm a little more hopeful now after reading about other timid freaks. : )
I sometimes think my goobers are a lot less stressful...lol. My hopes with them rarely get dashed.

Re: Not sure to be happy or sad about this
tbh I started this year with 3 stakes gallopping all weather sprinter 2 year olds 2 were timid and one was brave after they have all started 3 times
bith the two timids have won 2 of 3 starts where and are both stakes winners and the one that is brave has yet to break his maiden
However it also belongs to the story that the 2 timid ones are both progressive and the Brave one is a late bloomer
but I still find it interesting

heart is not the reason a freak is a sad one or not, plenty of successful timid freaks and lots of brave ones struggling..

The heart to me is what if the horse was brave. What he/she could have been.

I think the only time timid/brave is much of a factor is if there's a duel- all other things being equal, the brave one will win; if the timid one does not need to duel - they'll be fine.
I'm just here for the fun of it
