Stable size poll
Instead of culling my barn I got curious about sim demographics. Let's define "actively racing" as unretired horses who have already raced this year or are intended to start racing this season.

Re: Stable size poll
I'd like to be running more good ones, but at about 55-60 right now as I retired a bunch last year and bred less.

Re: Stable size poll
I run 701 at the moment and they breakdown as follows:
701 Horses: 13 Freaks, 81 Stakes, 573 Allowances, 26 Productives, 3 Solids, 5 Claimers (these are inclusive of my Race Twice Barn, praying, but never getting, a first or second start improver).
To further break that down:
701 Horses:
- 37 TS: 1 Stakes, 32 Allowances, 4 Productives
- 19 TM: 1 Stakes, 15 Allowances, 1 Solid, 2 Claimers
- 36 TR: 4 Stakes, 28 Allowances, 3 Productives, 1 Solid
- 163 DS: 1 Freak, 14 Stakes, 147 Allowances, 1 Productive
- 165 DM: 2 Freaks, 17 Stakes, 135 Allowances, 8 Productives, 1 Solid, 2 Claimers
- 281 DR: 10 Freaks, 44 Stakes, 216 Allowances, 10 Productives, 1 Claimer
Honestly, it's hard to find races for a lot of the dirt allowances

I have 256 in my racing barn. Some are in there to see if I get a first or second race improver. This includes mostly TB, with a handful in each mixer division.

Ha, voted first, read the post after!
I have 190 in the active barn. Some 80-90 in the blooming barn, 20-40 of them have been or will be entered as fillers or when company lightens up end of season.

Re: Stable size poll
117. That's manageable for me.
Then another 42 in my "2yos No Races Yet" barn, which is for routers and Sbreds who won't debut until they're late 2yos or early 3yos, and my better late-blooming youngsters. And eight more in my "2yos In Training" barn, for 2yo+ horses with equipment not yet sorted (I bought some unworked 3yos I'm still figuring out).
So that's 167 horses of racing age who I look at and go "I wouldn't mind running you". But I can't really handle that many.
THEN there's 213 in my "Bad Tick Over" barn, the home for poor gallopers. Most of them will stay there until they turn five and I retire/GP them, with a few going on to be raced. Currently 38 of them are borderline; horses who would probably win a maiden but not much else and who wouldn't look entirely out of place in my racing barn.

Re: Stable size poll
I *technically* have 21, but there's a two year old "Solid" who I have written off for the rest of the season, so i'm saying I have 20. With now working full time, and being mommy to a coming three year old son when i'm home, I feel like 20 is even too many sometimes...

Re: Stable size poll
Currently 674 in my racing barn but roughly 90 or so are on the sales page. All of which I would gladly give away. I have another 289 in my training barn. It's clearly too many but I get them entered...somehow.
