I was saddened to read that Eastern Westside passed away today.
He won the Derby in year 44 which was the same year I joined the SIM. He was special in so many ways. Winning the Derby as a gelding, not carrying a "superstar" pedigree, continuing to race for years and years after. I also just now saw that he ran a 100 in the Japan Trophy Dirt back in year 47, back when 100 definitely wasn't common among DR.

Re: Eastern Westside
That is SUPER sad.... I freaking adored this horse. The only Derby winner to be a gelding at the time of winning. RIP big pixel star

Re: Eastern Westside
Wow, that's really cool. I often kick myself for giving up when I first joined the sim, I missed out on many years of history before I came crawling back. Hopefully the future will have some more types like that. Makes the sim more interesting to follow than real-life racing in some ways, it's hard for me to really get invested in horses who run 5-6 races and then retire.

Thank you for sharing this. So amazing.
Like Shannon, I was away from the game for the vast majority of this guy's career. Sad that I missed it.
