So happy with this crop of thoroughbred yearling gallops.
The numbers for 369 newly minted 1 year olds @:
Turf Sprint: 1 Stakes (That Chapter), 5 Alw., 12 Prod., 3 Solid, 4 Clm.
Dirt Sprint #: 6 Alw., 6 Prod., 5 Solid, 8 Clm.
Turf Mile: 2 Stakes (Starboy, Beau), 6 Alw., 6 Prod., 1 Solid, 2 Clm.
Dirt Mile *: 1 Freak (Dave Matthews Band*), 2 Stakes (DMB,DMB), 14 Alw., 15 Prod., 3 Solid, 5 Clm.
Turf Route: 1 Freak (Brilliance), 1 Stakes, 11 Alw., 18 Prod., 10 Solid, 9 Clm.
Dirt Route %: 2 Freak (Christopher Robin, DMB), 18 Stakes, 56 Alw., 66 Prod., 31 Solid, 28 Clm.

@ 6 gallop groups provided for comparison
# The dirt sprint numbers are not good. I need to do better.
* The dirt mile freaks may be short routers but they are my attempt to infuse some Dave Matthews Band dirt milers into the mix.
% Over 200 foals bred. The numbers tilted toward the bottom three gallop buckets may reflect quite a few non-hen/non-stakes mare pedigree experiments paired with experimental stallions. Win some / Lose some.

Bred my largest crop ever and nothing I bred is a freak. Second crop in a row like this

Heck, didn't even get a mixer better than an allowance.

I must be doing something wrong

Some crops just suck - and sometimes you get a few years in a row where all you can do is yell "*!?"

Fingers crossed that next year will be better
I'm just here for the fun of it

All turf milers

Freak = 1 (8.3%) (by Pinatubo)
Stakes = 2 (16.67%) (by Nightwatch and Ghaiyyath)
Allowance = 4 (33.3%)
Productive = 3 (25%)
Claimer = 2 (16.67%)

Total = 12

After 2 years with no stakes or above can't complain about 25% hitting that mark this year. The freak is especially excited, with an added bonus of her being out of a homebred freak.

All AWR(29):

3 Stakes - 2x Red Lantern, 1x Testing the Waters
8 Allowances
11 Productives
3 Solids
4 Claimers

None of my Blue Hens bred anything above a Productive, my Formids came in clutch this year. After not getting any Stakes last year, I was happy with the results.
I bred Margaux early this year, and unfortunately, she has now been sent to pasture.

By far my worst crop, not that it's ever amazing, but nothing better than productive this year. In a way it's a good thing as it's made me pension some mares who I was hopeful for, who continuously produced not so good horses and were, frankly, a waste of money. Let's hope the next, much smaller crop are much better.

Yea waste of money is common unfortunately, but keep grinding its worth it in the long run!!

2 freaks and 26 stakes doesn't seem like it was a bad haul though?
I was more referring to the fact that my 3yos were bred with maximum effort put in, my 2yos with almost zero, and my yearlings back to maximum with very little change in results, except in terms of my TBs that seemed to actually suffer when I tried harder. I've gotten a decent bunch all 3 years, nothing to light the world on fire but will at least keep my barn going a bit longer and give me one or two exciting prospects, but I haven't mastered breeding enough, I suppose, to find any benefit in killing my brain and spending nearly a hundred hours planning everything out.

Just my personal opinion, I think someone snuck into the gym at midnight and raised the bar on qualifying to become a freak?

I netted 12% stakes runners. All dirt routers.

Not too disappointed with zero freaks, because as of late, all of mine have been imposters!

Breeding TBs can be a task,
A lot of time and effort you must ask,
And when the results are not so great,
It's easy to want to call it fate.

Ricky Spanish had a tough year,
His crop wasn't something to cheer,
But he learned to let go of the waste,
And focus on the better taste.

Erin Sanderson, on the other hand,
Gave it her all, but her results were bland,
She almost gave up, feeling low,
Until she got two Freaks to show.

The Stallions they used were many,
From Silver Kitty Cat to Black Wolf, not any,
But it was Beau and Nightwatch who shone,
Producing the champions they now own.

Valley of Fire, Son of Zom, and Backstreet Boy,
Were the Stakes winners who brought them joy,
And they're sure to produce many more,
With their newfound success to adore.

Breeding horses is a lot like life,
Sometimes it's tough, sometimes it's nice,
But if you keep on pushing through,
You might just find something new.
