Gates clang open. Racing! Clean start for all of the elite eight.
It's a Formula 1 start as 6 speedy colts vie for the lead up to the sharp first turn.
The two trailing racers are only 2 lengths behind the lead pack as they head down the backstretch.
The leader is running comfortably as the five closest behind him jostle and exchange places as if playing musical chairs.
In to the final turn now. A SUREAL scene develops. At the apex of the turn, they are 5 across the track; heads apart.
The two closers are making very strong sweeping moves to reach the lead pack as they exit the turn.
With an eighth of a mile left, there are seven colts within a half length of the courageous leader.
The crowd roars.
In the final sixteenth of the Crown in a blur of colorful racing silks, one colt drops down to the rail and sticks a nose in front.
The crowd is silent for what seems like an eternity as the Photo Finish sign glows.
Then spontaneously, thunderous applause of appreciation from the fans for one of the most amazing Baltimore Crown finishes ever.
