Regarding non-bids or minimum $1 bids:
- Most of my mares have produced Allowance at least once, with the exception of some of the younger ones. So don't balk at the "unpredictable" or "formidable" mares, you still have a chance of getting good babies. Azalea for example is "unpredictable" but her 3yo is Allowance.
- Don't think unraced 2-5 yr olds reflect on the mare's production record. They've just been sitting untouched in my stable. If the progeny aren't up for auction, they're Allowance or better!
- Check out the Solid and Claimer yearlings and 2yos, and then see if the dam is up for auction. If she's not, that means she's produced either consistent Allowances or a Stakes at some point. You can find some nice bloodlines for a bargain.
