AW Route Week 16 - G1's/SC

Post by Garret Folsom »

I wanted to highlight the G1 winners for Week 16 AW Routers.

I'll start with the Juvenile races. First up, in the All Weather Futurity, Red Lantern (Garret Folsom) beat out Anesthetic Gel (Kasie GIllespie) and Long Dong (Danny Derby). Red Lantern is sire Dragon Temple's 3rd G1 winner.

The All Weather Debutante was quite an exciting race. Joyeux Noel (Nicholas Johnson) and Legendary Eyes (Garret Folsom) finished in a dead heat. If my memory serves me correctly, I cannot remember another G1 dead heat involving AW Routers. Both fillies are the first G1 winner for their sires and dam sires. Joyeux Noel (Dancin in the Rain x Rousseau - there's a name from the past!) and Legendary Eyes (Soft Eyes x Choices).

Garret Folsom now has 21 AW Route G1 wins, 3rd All-time behind Madelene Gilbert and Todd Lucas. Nicholas Johnson has 8 G1 wins, tying him for 12th place all-time.

Dream Catch Me (Lee Cara) won the Steward's Cup Synthetic Marathon by a length over Astral Magic (Tiyoun Long), with Image Done (Matthew McMahon) finishing 3rd. It is Dream Catch Me's 3rd G1 win and first Steward's Cup. It is owner Lee Cara's 4th Steward's Cup win and his 3rd different winner, joining Desert Seeker (Y29 SC Synthetic Matron) and Simi Valley (Y52 SC Synthetic Marathon, Y54 SC Synthetic Classic). Lee is tied for the 3rd most AW Route Steward's Cup wins trailing only Madelene Gilbert and Todd Lucas.

Cupids Inspiration (Brian Chunn) picked up the win the Steward's Cup Synthetic Matron. It is her first G1 win. She beat Utopia (Lisa Bennert) and Baptist Ridge (Randall Allen) for the win. This is Brian Chunn's 2nd G1 win and 1st Steward's Cup Win with AW Routers. Cupids Inspiration (D's Tapeta x Benjamin) is a former AW Route World Heavyweight Champion as well.

Takeshi Kovacs (Andrew James) is your Steward's Cup Synthetic Classic winner. He beat out Bennie and the Jets (Ronnie Dee) and Tony the Collector (Aaron Tonning) to give Andrew James is first career AW Route Steward's Cup win. The win gives sire, Live the Dream, a tie for the most Steward's Cup winners with Benjamin. He is the first Steward's Cup winner for damn sire Thermodynamic.

Thanks for the shoutout Garret. Was the best part of my day seeing that this morning. Takeshi is coming back for one more year but keep a mare or two for him after the next season.

Congrats to all the additional winners!
