Y59 Yearlings

Post by Madelene Gilbert »

Welp. I don't know what I was expecting, because my gallops rarely end up how I imagine. However having been semi-absent the last few years I have found that the "older" (relatively speaking) crosses aren't rating as high as they were. I'm going to have to take a long look at 1) which stallions I'm breeding to, 2) which mares I'm using (strength of pedigree) and 3) re-evaluate pedigree crosses.

That said, my yearling gallop results are:
5 Stakes: Dragon Temple, Franzia, Longbird, Order Restored, Sound the Bugle
18 Allowance: Avacas, Choices (2), Dancin in the Rain (2), Dragon Temple, Franzia, Freak Out (2), Jacques (2), Longbird, No Luck Needed, Order Restored, Simi Valley, Sound the Bugle, Sound True (2)
15 Productive
14 Solid
21 Claimer
1 Other/Different Career

Once again, the yearling "Freak" eludes me. You people who get them must share your secrets!

The one I was most looking forward to galloped "stakes". Revival is my Order Restored x Namine (Live the Dream) filly. She's got three G1 winning mares within three generations: Namine, Thatnightintoronto and Mortal Once More. Much droll lol  Rest in Peace is also a nice "stakes" filly from my other SC Matron winner Peace At Last. Fingers crossed they both run as well as their mommas cuz I need G1 winning replacements!

I finally bred a freak in AWR https://www.simhorseracing.com/horse.ph ... ID=1425993
(Pinatubo x Sunrise Sunset) A star bm. No idea how this happened.

Also have 1 stakes out of a BH mare.

Everything else was Allowance on down to the bottom.

I still think breeding good AW horses is difficult!

Darcy, have you checked your filly for versatility? With that pedigree I'm wondering if she's skewed TR and that's why you got a "freak".

I'm definitely having trouble breeding with the new(ish) TBS sires given their TR pedigrees/influence. They're producing some of the nicest and fastest horses right now, but I don't want to dilute the older AW pedigrees to extinction.

As a newbie trying to dip my toes a bit deeper into these waters, got a mixed bag of results but enough decent ones to make me happy this year.

https://www.simhorseracing.com/horse.ph ... ID=1400183 stakes late bloomer by Avacas

https://www.simhorseracing.com/horse.ph ... ID=1391333 I also have this stakes who went 2/2 for the match, but the older full sister seems to want to be a miler according to workout times, so I'm not sure where this one's talent will lie.

Also got a few allowances by On Safari (2), Franzia, Avacas, Le Vent Se Leve and Dream Catch Me.

Of my three AWR yearlings, one is allowance (by Acclamation)

Got mostly productives in AWS but have two allowance (Red Running Hood and Red Falx) and one stakes (Ghostly Forensics)

Only just begun to peek into the AW divisions so hopefully I'll have more competitive crops in the years to come.

I like that Avacas filly! All of my Good Magic mares bombed this year, so I'll have to take a look at breeding this cross.

I didn't breed many AW, but I'm pretty excited to get 2 stakes!

Just checked the freak filly and got a "She is not versatile" statement. I'm mainly just trying to bring him some fresh blood to my AWR girls; hoping to cross the fillies back to the older AW pedigrees in the future.
