Positive Vibes - AWM/AWR/TM/TR Stallion

Post by Madelene Gilbert »

Positive Vibes
Chestnut colt, Avacas x In Good Spirit (Good Magic)
Will stand for $20,000
  • 13 wins in 16 starts lifetime, $2.1 million earnings
  • Multiple G1 winner, including the Y63 SC Synthetic Derby, Y62 All Weather Derby and Y61 All Weather Futurity
  • Y61 & Y62 SIMMY winner
  • Rated Versatile

Positive Vibes is entered in the Steward's Cup Synthetic Classic W16, which will be his last start. Regardless of how he finishes, he'll be listed at an introductory fee of $20k. He did receive the "versatile" comment, but I'm honestly not sure if that means miler/router or dual/tri-surface ability. You're welcome to try what you want! ;)

One of the best sons of the prolific Avacas (Makahiki) to go to stud, his damside includes three generations of G1 winning females - In Good Spirit, Rumors Are True, and Tamriel - and also brings in RL lines Good Magic and One and Only. He should be very useful for everything from SIM-lined mares to RL-dispersal/CAH mares - everything, that is, except for Avacas daughters!

Edit: According to the Steward, he looks like AWM/AWR plus Turf!

Oooooh! I'm sure I can send him a few good mares this year. He is a pretty boy, and love the bloodlines.

If you breed a Curlin mare (from RL dispersal), what do you think would be the main Type of the offspring? AWR? AWM? DR?

Distance wise I think it'll depend on the mare's preference, but I see two Avacas x Curlin offspring at the moment. The 4yo colt is a stakes winner at a route, and the 2yo filly won at both a mile and route. So... both?
Curlin, Good Magic and One and Only have thrown both dirt and turf. Personally I would still breed for AW as I don't think you'll get a dedicated dirt superstar, but you'll probably get more dual-surface ability than a straight AW pedigree. :?

Since I have much greater recent success with AWR than DR or TR, this approach makes sense for me!

WOW! Ok, booking increased! If he caps again, I'll bump one more time but that'll be it.

Well thank you everyone for the support of PV! He's booked full at 180 slots. If you missed out on him this year don't worry! It'll be much easier next year, as I won't be sending all my mares to him  He'll stand at the beginning of the year for the same price - $20k. I'll reevaluate his fee around W6-W8 depending on yearling performance and booking popularity, so if you want to get him cheap breed early!

BACK WITH ANOTHER UPDATE! Positive Vibes book has been increased to 210 slots!

Em wanted to breed to him, so I was "forced" to open his cap again. :P Check out this ultra hot new Steward-bred!
Colt, TR out of Itoko mare Leading Courage

She also casually mentioned he looks like the best hypoing AWM/AWR stallion PLUS turf! Could he be the next Wizarding War? Quidditch? Magician? You've got 24 more chances left this year to find out!

PV got a new headshot! If you haven't seen his pretty face, go poke his nosey. :D

PV's first crop has been absolutely stellar so far. His book closed last year with 212 foals. He's one of 3 AWM freshman sires and the only AWR freshman sire with a Freak offspring. He also produced 7.1% Stakes with 15 offspring.
After this weekend's first yearling workouts, highlights include: With less than 30 breeding slots left for the year (so far), I have increased his stud fee to $40k. This puts him in line with similarly ranked AWM/AWR sires. I do not plan on increasing his fee again so get him now while you can!

UPDATE:
PV's book has been full since W11 but I will be increasing the cap on breedings up to 150 slots again this year. I plan to make the increase Week 16 (D1) after the main results go live, so approximately 11:00pm-11:30pm ET. If you were thinking of using him, book your mares now so they're ready to go as I don't think those slots will last through the longer break.

I expect he'll also be popular next year. I'm reserving at least 40 slots for myself. If there's a mare you want to send to him I recommend doing it early in the year instead of waiting!

Y65 ALERT

PV has 17 slots left for the year! I didn't have plans to up his foal cap but am happy to if needed. However, I also don't want to spend the GPs if I don't have to.

Unfortunately, with the US holidays this week I will be traveling Wednesday - Saturday with limited time or internet, so I won't be available to up his cap at the last minute. In other words, if you want to breed to him this year DO IT NOW before you get shut out!

BUMP
He got booked full a few minutes ago, so I've increased his slots to 150. This'll be the only increase as I'm out tomorrow! Good luck!
