Y51 Steeplechaser Fix

Post by The Steward »

Hi all, sorry for the delay. It's hard to pin both of us down at the same time and this was an involved project.

We looked at reports on all active Steeplechasers versus their retired counterparts (current gallop levels versus the recent past), and percentages of gallop levels in other divisions (i.e. how many freaks are there in a dirt route division). Then we looked at all the ages of active steeplechasers and what percentages of stakes/freak/claimer/etc were in each age group.

Finally, we decided that active steeplechasers 4 years old and up should get a boost to match the talent of the 3 year olds and under, rather than hacking the less-than 3 year olds down to lower levels. This affected 4, 5, and 6 year olds (no 7 year olds or up were eligible, horses that old play by their own set of rules). 18% of the 4, 5, and 6 year old crops changed gallop comment after the boost (sliding from one category to the next). These comments were automatically changed in your barns, so you don't need to re-gallop anyone.

Play Leapfrog and the other one did not receive the special boost.

Thanks for your patience! Steeplechasing has always played by its own set of code-rules from the day we put it in, so it's always a bit trickier to fix when things get "off."
