Question About Steeplechase Mares

Post by Nathan Klein »

So I understand that on flat a horses rating can be anywhere from no potential to Blue Hen but for a steeplechase ratings what are they from a scale of worst to best. Because i've seen ratings like "strong" and "no ability" being thrown around in things like auctions.

That link is not up to date. Comments and abilities were tweaked when "chase claimer" entered the scene.
horse is a natural is now chase allowance
...confidence... is now chase claimer.

I'm happy to update the chaser comments if someone wants to give me the info. I don't have enough jumpers currently to know what the most up to date comments are.

I believe the following are correct in correlating the Breeding Barn chase rating with the Bloodstock Agent report:

Highest rating is "Brilliant:"

Date a City Girl's is also a brilliant broodmare for steeplechasing!

Next is "Strong:"

Horse 1560967673's greatest strength could be as the dam of steeplechasers. Good luck!

Next is "Potential:"

'Magic Gatsby' has potential as the dam of steeplechasers, so if you're interested in pursuing that I give you the green light!

Last is "No Ability:"

Unfortunately, 'Always Revelation' probably won't produce a very good steeplechaser.

Lucas, sorry I wasn't more clear. It's the gallop comments -- Teach Horse to Jump -- that apparently need updating.

Chase Freak - is a freak over fences! I'm impressed.
Chase Stakes - had very impressive form today and is training well!
Chase Allowance - is a natural over the jumps! A career in steeplechasing might be a good option for this horse.
Chase Claimer - handled the jumps with confidence! Trying steeplechasing is a great idea.
Chase Some Potential - has some potential over the jumps! Some of the landings were a little unbalanced, but this horse could give steeplechasing a try.
Chase Different Career - This horse stumbled over every jump and was a hazard on the course! I'm not sure 'XXXXXXXX' will ever make it as a Steeplechase horse!

True Rochelle, my comment was a bit off topic. But I just pointed out that some parts of the link was not updated.
I hope I didnt cause too much of a mess. I was just surprised that a part from Reginas page contained information that actually was not up to date.
I consider Reginas page to be the best page for information, especially for a new player. I have learnt so much from that page.
