RUN FOR THE SHADOW

Post by Arthur Cutler »

What a shame!!! As I am eating breakfast this morning and I checked the Simmy awards i sprayed my coffee on my laptop. The greatest female steeplechaser in the history of Sims has lost the Simmy Award one more time. I guess the awards have turned into a popularity contest and not on the merit of the horse which is again is a shame. If it is a popularity contest my name is ARTHUR And this is my horse Run for the shadow. https://www.simhorseracing.com/horse.ph ... ID=1068717

She certainly deserved the award this year, since she's been slighted before.

Take the $1M Sim money, put it into your Sim pocket, and go spend it. Can't take that away!

I feel for you, Arthur. I'm sorry, I didn't even vote this time. I thought it was the same old same old... I don't know if it helps- my Flizans Danielle https://www.simhorseracing.com/horse.php?HorseID=940298, 3 times Steward Cup Winner, the best SC so far in game, hasn't got any simmy either... .

This is the thing Arthur, until Simmy voting is more than a category and link to 5 horses, it will always be like this.

There are too many categories and too many horses to choose from. No one has time to go through all the horses and make an educated decision based on merit. The horse that normally wins is the one that was talked about most as they are on people's minds. Doesn't necessarily mean the horse was better. It could be a horse that was bumped 50 times last season in the "my favorite horse". Or the "My goal for so and so" post.

Same thing goes for trainer awards. It's just so much easier for players to say I heard that name so many times or that one is my friend than to take the time to really look deep into each nominees merits for the season.

I have learned to take 95% of the simmy awards with a grain of salt.

Everyone sees how many awesome chasers Lucas has and probably just picks based on that. You've both got some great horses in the division and I'm striving to catch you both some day.

Thanks Flizan.... Yes I do remember F Danielle very well. She was one of the greatest. It’s just weird pressing on her link and not seeing any Simmy awards under her name. Like it’s weird seeing no simmyawards Under run for the shadows name. Que sera sera

Thanks Pete for your words of wisdom. I do agree with you on all the horses to look over is overwhelming for some. To tell you the truth I only vote on the categories that I run a lot of horses in like all weather and steeplechasers and harness and of course trainer of the year and breeder of the year. I never vote on anything else. Because it is too Time consuming and it would be unfair if I just press a button on the category I really don’t know a lot about. I think that is the fairest way for me to vote on only what I know. I actually think a better idea would be to instead of having to press on each individual Horse there should be just one link that shows all the past performances of the horse in the year that they are nominated. Sort of the way it is when you checking past performances on a race ...This way you can get a better comparison of the horses. Just my opinion. See you at the races. Thanks

Thanks Dylan i actually am still striving to catch Lucas .....You have made some shrewd moves yourself to be a force in the chasers....There are a few really good players in the group right now ...You and Lucas and Polk and Flizan and Dave Trainer-Kent Sanders-Emmie Kay-Laura F-Kate Step-Rochelle Z----Among a few others make A very competive Group ...which is good

I honestly did not/do not know that I won any Simmy chaser (or other) awards. I know this game is supposed to be emotionally involving for the players, but I am pretty much as emotionally involved as the Sim horses are. I'll probably see about those awards when I enter those horses the next time.

Don't know why in certain special situations there can't be dual winners when decided by the Steward as appropriate. Much better result than having someone upset/disappointed.

Packers are only 1.5 over Tampa Bay: hum, that does sound very low. But the Packers will always have a warm spot in my heart. Many years ago I watched them dismantle the Giants about week 12 or 13 in the season. Said to self, they are really playing good ball. Checked with an online betting account and it had them at 30:1 to win the Super Bowl. So I bet a whole $10. Next morning I check again and they were still 30:1, so I bet another $20. That paid for our first BIG flat screen TV. Was more worried about getting paid after they won, but did eventually collect.

Hey Lucas don’t you love when you’re winning bets pay for household goods? My crazy Super Bowl story was back in 1996 for Super Bowl 30 my wife had business in Las Vegas at the start of the football season so that was 1995 . And I joined her on the trip. The Steelers were 7 to 1 to win the AFC championship game. Just to get to the Super Bowl. Long story short I put $50 on the Steelers and I won. Being a mailman for 34 years I mailed it registered to the casino because I do not go to Las Vegas very often. After a few weeks I called the casino to see if they receive my registered mail and they said they never got it. I also forgot to make a copy of the winning ticket and I did sign the back of it. I called so often that they knew me by a first name basis. I told them if they receive it to please call me. Four months after mailing it they finally called me and send me my money. Never again will I ever mail a winning ticket through the mail.
