Highland Billy - $2.8 million, 9 G1s

Post by Erica Olson »

My Pacer stallion, Highland Billy, has been retired to stud. I kept him racing at 6 because he’s so fun to race - he ended up winning over $1 million this year alone! ($2,870,190 in total earnings, making him the third-highest earning Pacer of all time). He won 9 G1s during his career (17 stakes wins total), as well as 4 SIMMYs. He is by Wanted Aliveornot and out of multiple stakes winner Highland Rosie (by Cumberbatch).

He has hypo’d A+ with all of my blue hen mares that I’ve tested, no matter the pedigree, and A+ with a star by Cumberbatch (A with three other stars that I tested by Wiggle It Jiggleit, Ancient Truth, and Hot Misschief respectively). I don’t keep a lot of star mares, so I only tested those few, but he also hypo’d A with a formidable by Cumberbatch.

I’m opening his stud fee at $20,000 since it’s the end of the year and lots of mares will have been bred already, but if there’s tons of interest I’ll raise that higher. Love this boy!!

A helluva horse, Erica. Just nicked A+ with my best Blue Hen mare, but she's already bred this year.
Kinda glad "Billy" wont be around to run against next year.
It's better to have it & not need it than to need it & not have it.

Very nice stud Erica! A+ to every mare I've tried so far.

I'm LOVING This colt due to his clean pedigree. Fingers crossed he turns out nice because he would be a great outcross to a lot of mares!

Highland Billy is standing for only $18,000 right now. I’d like to get him lots of quality mares this season so that he gets off on a strong foot as a stud. :)

This is the #1 Value in the SIM right now, or it is --- assuming that a person breeds Pacers. And I do, so I think this is the SIM's best deal.

Don’t worry Erica, I’m sending him nothing but Hens, and I’ll be sending him several per week for the duration of this season 😊

By request, I’ve opened up more breeding slots for Billy this year - get them while they last! (And thanks so much, Glenn, for your kind comment. I just saw this now.)

I would like to show my apprecation for this stallion. I have 7 offspring of his in racing age. 4 of them are stakeswinners and the 5th debuted today in a listed, coming in second, losing with only a neck.
Up until last year I don't think he had any previous Steward's Cup Winners but he made up for it big time when Overcoming (Michael Looker), Brave are Free (Erin Sanderson) and Tamrielic Moons (my own) all won their respective races.
He's 13 now, so it may be the last year it'll be certain he'll be around.
