my example was more of a thought on a potential sliding scale with the same labels, but done automatically by the game.
The game would change the gallop label of your horse automatically as they fit within that percentage of the total population of active race horses in the game. As horses retire spots at the top levels open up and horses upgrade.
It would just move on its own throughout the season as horses improve/regress.

offline I play a horse racing game called starters order and they do use a percentage system though they also use some other stuff I will not get into now unless people want me to
