Out of 95 thoroughbred yearlings I have:

0 freaks (which is normal)
1 stakes (1%)
12 allowance (13%)
13 productive (14%)
20 solid (21%)
42 claimer (44%)
7 different career (7%)

I am a little bummed since it's the first time I've only had one stakes. But maybe there's a late bloomer or two in the productive group. I also had less different careers that weren't steeplechasers than last year. So at least my lowest of the low are fewer.

From 109 non-steeplechasers

5 different career (4.6%)
40 claimer (36.7%)
16 solid (14.7%)
25 productive (23%)
17 allowance (15.6%)
6 stakes (5.5%)

Underwhelming of course, but it does help to keep expectations in check, now that we know the broodmare BSA assessments don't matter all that much. I will be one of those who rejoice when the yearling assessment process is overhauled.

From the other thread.

And for fun I thought I would try and guesstimate gallops

Different Career: 6.86%
Claimer: 34.8%
Solid: 17.64%
Productive: 16.66%
Allowance 14.7%
Stakes: 6.86%
Freak: 0.05% (Had a bit of a laugh typing this)

Expectations to avoid disappointment: 2-3 Stakes, 8-9 Allowance.
The Facts:

Different Career 12 11.88%
Claimer 38 37.62%
Productive 18 17.82%
Solid 16 15.84%
Allowance 14 13.86%
Stakes 3 2.97%
Freak 0 0.00%

Met "expectations", but still managed to find a bit of disappointment in the high percentage at the lower end of the gallop scale despite the fact that I bred a lot of random mares I probably shouldn't have.

A few thought out breeding were nothing but disastrous, especially this one:

Elysian Park X Deadly mare, is a 7/8th sibling to Lambeau Field... galloped Different Career!

On the plus side, Mint X Storybook Endings (father's Day) galloped stakes. This is good, because this filly was bred specifically to sell. So will entertain offers. 8)

A really better year for my barn (42 was a disaster)

Total : 201 TB

Stakes 4 (2%) Maelstrom, King of Kindness, Stay There and Teeth Bared(also 14 allowances: extraordinary breed year)
Allowance 27 (13.4%)
Productive 46 (22.9%)
Solid 25 (12.4%)
Claimer 85 (42.3%)
Different 14 (7%)

35 non-chaser TBs:

0 freaks
6 Stakes (17%)
10 Allowance (29%)
3 Productive (9%)
5 Solid (14%)
11 Claimers (31%)

Happy with the numbers. The one mating I was super excited about (the only one I'd planned before the end of the year) gave me a stakes, but the mare's produced a freak so I was hoping for another from a similarly-pedigree'd stallion. I love the pairing though so I might try it again this year.

Let's seeeee.

100 TBs even. Ooh, that makes the percentages easy.

5 stakes
15 alw

Meh. Stakes were Bone Against Steel, RFTMx2, Gentle Courage and Luxury. We shall see. Haven't had time to overthink it yet!

31 foals

1 stakes
5 allowance
7 productive
3 solid
10 claimer
5 Different Career

Important to note that my first effort into breeding went less than stellar. The 1 stakes and 4 of the 5 allowance horses were purchased as foals at various times throughout last year. Everything Jamie Bates bred was productive or lower (minus one allowance horse that Ali is listed as the breeder on).

Clearly I need to learn a bit more but it's fun learning....so it's all good!
