I am toying with the idea of mating Fusaichi Pegasus with Syriana. Fusaichi Pegasus is Syriana's great grandsire. Syriana's sire is BC Classic Winner Storm A Fortress.

Would this mating possibly produce a classic distance horse or a genetic mutatant (because of the in-breeding)?

I'm not even sure that the computer will let you do a 1x4 inbreeding to FuPeg, but even if it does, I'm against this idea. The more inbred a horse is, the more fragile the horse is, which makes it harder to manage. This is less of an issue for more experienced trainers, but still can present difficulties. In addition, I think the mare hasn't shown any indication that she wants to be a classic distance horse - her mother's side is pure turf and she appeared to be better on turf (relatively speaking) herself. I suppose if you want to reinforce the Storm A Fortress side of the pedigree, dirt classic may work, but I'd definitely go with someone other than FuPeg.
