The problem with this mare overall is that she's not a miler, so anything miler-y or suspect of being miler-y needs to go. No Because I'm Happy, Cal Chrome, Just An Act, or Light of the Moon. Even DI Hardy would be too suspect for this cross. She ran at a mile, but was actually better at a 1 1/16 miles. She's considerably better routing than at a mile in the shed. It's hard to know this, because she was so precocious that when she tried 1 1/16 miles again as an older horse she was just okay, not the same as when she was two. It's not your fault.

Grindelwald is "meh" as the kids say, but definitely is not a marathon influence. Just Victory mares are not meant to be met by marathon influences, which tosses Keyboard Courage, Hold Above, and probably even Raleigh. (I sent ONE to Keyboard Courage, I liked the foal a lot but he's always been obnoxiously underperforming, even as a millionaire). Anointed is hit or miss, a lot of people love him, he makes me crazy. He's a true 1 1/4 mile sire, which makes him ?? with JV mares. Man of Mystery is much the same, I bred two JV mares to him and the babies were pretty terrible. So he's out.

That means that out of all the horses you listed, Doctor is the only horse I could advocate. She should probably just hit Doctor or any Doctor-lite options for the rest of her career.
Sorry for waking up this thread.
I decided to go all in on dirt router stallions. Categorizing them into short, mid (1 1/4) and marathon.
From this post I put Doctor on short, Anointed and Man of Mystery on mid and Hold Above on marathon..

Then I decided to study the latest steward bred auctions.. Mares that are bred with marathon stallion Hold Above will, since the steward knows what she is doing have only marathon stallions...
I reserved a big blank paper, prepared for 3 long list of short/mid/marathon. I felt sooo smart. This wasnt so hard after all...

Opened up the steward mare Adele... her best offsping are from Hold Above, Man of Mystery and Doctor !!!

If the steward breeds a mare with stallions from all 3 categories this can only mean one of the following.

* She has better mares than me.
* Her random slide is better than mine.
* There is no such thing as a short router/long router mare.
* Jon Xett is right in the post earlier ending with ".... and stubborn breeder of meh."
* Becoming a specialist in general medicine with years of studies is nothing compared to understanding breeding.
* I am just temporarily confused...

She’s also said breed for what you want to achieve: want to lengthen a foals Potential running distance, breed to a marathon. Want to shorten the distance, breed to a short/mid. Etc etc

So that maybe explains her sending a mare to all sub-routes

I tend to believe that "her mares are better than mine" is the correct alternative... :)
And the last one.. I am still confused on how to categorize all stallions and mares...

Don't forget when looking at my mares that I'm "required" to spread the love and make sure every top stallion gets a mare (or try anyway), and thus I can't just breed Adele to Allonsy 12 times and be done with it. Even if that's what my soul wants me to do.

At least we know now why Shahir'ra only went to Sidney five times now. Twelve was the over the top number. She still did a great job of propping up his numbers.

So, does that mean we know who Adele is going to next year? Since she's been to Allonsy zero times to date :D
