Competition: Two Headshots up for grabs!

Post by Cleo Patra »

Want a headshot? Send a mare to one of my retiring stallions to be in with a chance to win 30,000 Game Points!

I have a grand total of four lovely boys retiring this year. Way too many to support on my own! So I'm offering two chances to win headshots to gather some support for my handsome studs.

To go in the draw:
- Send a winning mare to any of the four retirees (Heat of the Moment, Farseer, Venetian, With Class) and get one (1) ticket into the draw
- Send a STAKES winning mare to any of the four retirees (Heat of the Moment, Farseer, Venetian, With Class) and get two (2) tickets into the draw

I will pool all of the entries into one random draw and pull out TWO names. The same person cannot win twice, so if I do draw two of the same name, I will redraw to find the winner of the second headshot.

An Extra Incentive
If you hypomate a mare, then breed her, then post here in this thread with a link to her foal and the hypomate: I will send you $50,000 (One reward per person, posting twice won't get you 100k ;) )

Meet the Studs

HEAT OF THE MOMENT
by Heart of the Storm out of Sleep to Dream (War Daddy)
Sadly this guy missed out on a whole season of racing thanks to his owner going inactive. He is one of the most royally bred horses that will come into the stud market in recent times. His dam, Sleep to Dream, is a daughter of Wonder. Her other sons at stud, All of Time and Deep Sleep, as proving themselves to be excellent sires. Heat of the Moment excelled over 10-12 furlongs, but he didn't quite fall into the "plodder" category. I will personally be using this guy to add distance into speed mares (think Doctor type mares). He's your man if you're looking to breed Triple Crown colts.
Retiring Week 16 for $20,000

FARSEER
by Heart of the Storm out of Metaphysical (Stay Inside)
This is Conqueror's half brother and he's by a much more "commercial" type stallion. I'm really expecting this horse to match or exceed his brother in the shed. His career suffered from being in a barn with a couple of other similar colts. He is a G1 winner though and he's always mixed it with the best.
Retiring Week 16 Monday for $20,000

VENETIAN
by Man of Mystery out of Deep Sleep
I don't think Man of Mystery needs any introduction as a sire of sires. Venetian also boasts a killer female family. Deep Sleep is out of Adventure, who was also the dam of Voldemort, You Are Not Alone, Jack Skellington, Paramount and Amaroq (amongst others). Venetian was the perfect 9.5-10 furlong horse. Precocious enough to run well in the 2yo and early 3yo 9 furlong races, but with enough longevity to keep running on as a 5yo. He won the Baltimore Crown and should have more than $2 million in prize money when he retires. I think he's the type you can throw nearly any mare at, depending on what you're specifically breeding for. He's going to have a relatively cheap introductory fee, but get him quick because I expect he'll merit a stud fee rise in the near future.
Retiring Week 16 for $15,000

WITH CLASS
by Two Toned out of With Care (Sidney)
This guy is going to be so much fun. He offers the chance to try the 3x3 Sidney cross. I've waited years to breed to him! His female family is simply drool worthy. With Care won the Arc as a 3yo filly (!!) and With Care is out of Shahir'ra. The Sidney Shahir'ra cross has already produced top sires in Reddington and I Am Right Here. Throw in the Two Toned bloodline and you've got a stallion who should have every reason to be one of the best.
Retiring Week 15 for $15,000

So after tonight, I decided Heat of the Moment had enough of racing and Venetian put in such a huge effort that I couldn't find a spot where he wouldn't bounce in week 16. Both are now retired and ready to be part of this competition :D

Here are the hypos I have for them from my own mares. I think they are both matching up well!

Thanks Dave and Katie!

I should add that the draw will happen sometime on the day when the year changes over (I hope! I have horses who like to change my life plans for me lol)

Aside: When I looked at Venetian's pedigree, it seemed very familiar to me. After searching my stable, it became very obvious --
Breathe Me is his half-sister and they share the same Grand Sire.
