Moon Faced~TR-PENSIONING ON MARCH 12!

Post by Carole Hanson »

So I've had a bit of a change of heart inspired by a certain Steward to retire this tough guy (not that Em ever said to retire him).

Moon Faced

Update, first foal is a Steward bred bred on an A- cross

ETA: Hypos I've done/received reports of so far:
A
Beguinage
A-
Banish Fear
Esmeralda
Forever With Me
Impulsuve
One True Love
Royalty Power
Seen From the Sky
Snowblink
B+
Arianne Martell
Bless You Parker
Burning Diamonds
Claret
Electric Harbor
Elsarya
Feral
Gift From the Moon
Kitasan’s Choice
Laseen
Lying From You
Sidney Harbor
They Shine for You
B
Breeze On a River
It’s Blissful

He's on par with Satono Moon in terms of hypos, obviously I don't know other studs well enough to say but from my own mares I can see that he's on par with the majority of turf route studs out there

Looks like he’s getting some nice hypos! The Steward (probably accidentally) mentioned last night during the SC broadcast that the foal she bred,With the Light turned out a ‘Stakes’ so that’s a good sign!

With 4 yearlings still to gallop and 1 of them being the confirmed 'stakes' SB, it's looking like Moon Faced is off to an excellent start!

46 Foals
42 Galloped:
3 Stakes-7.1%
14 Allowance-33.3%
9 Productive-21.4%
6 Solid-14.3%
10 Claimer-23.8%

So his allowance+ % is at 40.4% and this isn't counting that SB!

Again inspired by Cleo Patra, here is a list of which sires Moon Faced has crossed well with. Not much to go on yet as this is his first crop but eh I have time so why not.

3 Player bred, 1 Steward bred: Anorak, The Opera Ghost (2) and Coleman Hell

Allowance-14
14 Player bred: Electric Blue, Sidney (3), Clockwork, Coleman Hell, Kingdom of Rust (2), Usain, Burning Up a Sun, Giant's Causeway, Teeth Bared, Highland Reel and Gojira

Allowance+ % is at 41.9%

I have read the Edge and I am taking into consideration The Steward's comments about Moon Faced's pricing :P

Nothing will change for this year but for next year I am likely to raise the stud fee, it will probably be in the region of $30,000.

In the meantime, happy breeding!

With some yearlings still to gallop, including a steward bred, Moon Faced has so far added 5 Stakes to his previous 4 taking his total up to 9. His % are significantly down due to the very large book of mares he got at a low price so don’t be discouraged by that, it looks like he is doing very nicely as a sire and I hope that continues once his first crop hits the track.

And another Stakes in his yearling crop bringing it up to 6, 10 across all crops! He also has 64 allowance foals which is his highest % gallop (33.7%)!

Steward bred yearling brings the stakes tally up to 11, 7 for this crop! Remember his % are a little skewed due to the high number of mares he got at what was according to the steward 'dirt cheap $15,000 that should probably be $50,000'

So Moon Faced got another winner last night, nothing to post about I guess. Except, this filly (With the Light) was pretty darn impressive earning a 100 SF on debut!!

Congrats Luis Polar, she looks very exciting!

And now she’s a Grade 1 winner! :)

Moon Faced ends his first season on track as a sire with 5 winners and the aforementioned Grade 1 stakes winner. I suspect his get will be even better at 3 and beyond!
