In a good way or a bad way?
There's a good way?
If you had so many freaks that you pooped yourself, I'd consider that "the good way" 😜

I'm Always too hopeful…
58 flat TBs and 3 stakes, dirt sprinter, miler and router, so.. yeah.
14 allowances
18 productives
8 solids
15 claimers
The Thing that bothers me the most, though, is that all those that have good Pedigrees where you could realistically hope for improvement were all either Peak/ progressive or productive and lower, and in 6 years I've never had any horse jump up more than one comment, so those will turn allowance/ productive at best. Oh well

Out of 147 bred:
2 freaks (and remarkably, they were TWINS!)
8 stakes
48 allowance

Percentage wise, I wish I did a little better with my stakes gallops, but I'm still extremely pleased with festivus this year. The comeback continues!

TBs only:
3 freaks: Catonarainbowbridge (TR, Nyan Cat's last foal, progressive), Hydreigon (TR, Half to Antares, late bloomer), Madeline (TS, daughter of recent SC winner Valley Cat, granddaughter of the legendary Cat Named Boots, progressive)

6 stakes: Aotearoa (DR by James Dean, Progressive), Film Festival (DR by Slickrock, Peak), Half Dome (DM by Slickrock, Progressive), Mek (TS by Rift Storm, Cat Named Boots dam line, late bloomer), Sand in My Socks (TS by Omaha Beach, Cat Named Boots dam line, late bloomer), The Cat's Meow (DM by Pete the Cat, peak)

17 allowance
8 productive (including a One More Kiss foal, because my entire dirt router band apparently took this year off, slackers)
5 solids
8 claimers

Outside of my dirt routers, I'm very satisfied with this crop! My dirt routers are gonna get a stern talking to!

Also notable on the non-TB side was a late blooming pacer freak and a late blooming QH mid stakes.

Edited to add: I also had three in my racing barn improve from stakes to freak. Two were 3yo pacers and one is a 4yo thoroughbred DR filly (Kingdomforahorse)
I have a stable full of cats

My thoroughbred numbers all turf milers

Allowance 4 (44.4%)
Solid 1 (11.1%)
Claimer 3 (33.3%)
Different Career 1 (11.1%)

Total = 9

Was spoiled the last few years with a freak and a stakes something until that point I hadn't had in thoroughbreds since gallop comments were changed a loooooooong time ago. None of those this year but good allowance numbers.

Weird year but I'll take it!

135 TBs.
1 freak (<3)
7 stakes, but only two are TS. Go figure. I also have a TR, a DR (yaaaaawn), two DS (what) and whatever this intends to be. Pretty stoked about that one.
Boatloads of alws. Boatloads.

Strong and Free has three freak yearlings so far, my new guy As a Rule got a stakes to his name which is nice, and my Paint mares must have been doing some prenatal yoga or taking extra vitamins or something because they popped out 40% stakes or better. My new Paint sire is doing well too. Score!

NOW the question is: do I pony up the $8m to save the best thing that ever happened to me for one more year, or do I take my chances?!

My first year stats:

38 TBs

12 allowance (2 peak)
6 Productive (2 peak)
3 solid (2 peak)
15 claimers (3 peak)
2 different career (1 peak)

Of my milers:

Turf milers: 4 allowance, 1 claimer
Dirt milers: 3 allowance, 3 productive, 1 solid, 4 claimer

I decided a few weeks before the year ended that I want to specialize in TM/DM milers in the future so these are the breedings I put more effort into.
