If Roughian ends up a Blue Hen?
If Roughian (ever retires, lol) and turns out to be a blue hen.....and if I ever decided to lease her out...
What kind of price do ya all think would be reasonably expected?
I rarely lease out my mares for much money...often give out free leases on my lesser mares. I also, rarely lease other people's mares. So I'm kind of clueless when it comes to what I nice broodmare is worth.

Em paid $3 million for a lease to Queen of Atlantis so probably something like that.

Somebody would pay you a lot of money, even if she's a formidable

i honestly would use her to get some other amazing family into your barn , so I would do a swap for a season unless you need the cash and then I would say 5 mill

If she were mine I'd be looking at trading for something similarly awesome, or maybe two mares that aren't quite as awesome. I'd always always always rather have a shot with a known high quality mare than cash for... what? A stew-bred that may or may not be anything?
That's just me though.

Re: If Roughian ends up a Blue Hen?
I was thinking... maybe in a not to distant future....when she hits 12 and is danger....I might pay the $1 million to keep her around for another foal.
Then after that...the next season it would cost $2,000,000 - which I *might* be able to afford by then.
But after that, I believe the price jumps up to ? $4 million? if I read the process correctly the last time I looked.
Maybe at that point, someone with a big wad of cash would be willing to save her and get a foal from her. ???
Been kicking around that idea for some time now. But wasn't sure if anyone would want to pay $4 million to lease out a mare. Of course, I wouldn't get any of the money...but I would get a few more Roughian foals out into the Sim.
I will be happy with what I get from her, I'm sure, and as I said, I have a lot of nice 'Foremost line' broodmares so breeding her hasn't been my top priority.

If you lease her to Em, she'll give you a good price and you get the first foal - so generally one of the best deals; Otherwise, I agree with Laura - swap for another awesome mare is generally your best bet
I'm just here for the fun of it

Re: If Roughian ends up a Blue Hen?
Thanks for the opinions/alternate options. Diversifying via a swap to get another successful pedigree line into my barn is a good idea too. : )
With my idea of saving her while foaling to breed again the next season, I was thinking by the time she was 12, potential leasers could also see by then, what kind of foals she's producing ... hopefully stakes and freaks, which would help them to decide if they really wanted to drop some millions into a broodmare.
Also, Rochelle lol... I would be more tempted by a golden retriever puppy than anyone's first born. LOL.

Re: If Roughian ends up a Blue Hen?
Between 3 and 4 million, depending on if I'm also having to save her for you (age related) etc. I'm more apt to pay $4 mil if she comes out blue hen than formidable, obviously

Thanks, Em. Sounds like at some point she will end up in your foaling barn...assuming she's not trash as a broodmare.
