Question about cross-breedable Turf studs.

Post by Jennifer Blake »

This morning I noticed that there are quite a few turf studs that were made crossbreedable….. so naturally I went to my A+ hypoing quarter horses and hypoed them to turf studs. I went from quarter horse sprinters, milers, and routers. All yielded C hypos and one dirt/miler mare hypoed C+ to fearless spirit.
My question is why make them cross-breedable when we can’t use turf studs with our quarter horse mares???

Well that makes sense. I didn’t think of the extra breeding slots when they become cross breedable. 😂

One of the many reasons I wish instead of the few extra slots crossbreed horses got we had separate limits for within breed and cross breed on crossbreed eligible stallions. The other big one being making it more likely stallion owners of popular studs would consider a lower cross breed stud fee to make the fees more appropriate for the mixers with less earning potentials.
