Mating notes on a mare

Post by Gwen Morse »

I have a mare with these notes:

MATING NOTES:
-Cover: Riven Gold (1/5/7), Saturnalia (1/2/4)
Dirk Provin (2/5/16), Lord Empire (3/8/9)
Rift Storm (2/11/17)

What do these numbers represent?

Does she have foals by all of those stallions?

Put a link of the mare up and maybe in looking at the pedigree there might be a way to figure out the notes. There might be something in her pedigree that matches up with the stallions in some way.

My best guess is it might refer to their rank on the Top 50 rankings list in the studbook? I couldn't tell for which View (filter) they correspond to though, as results are constantly updated.

Oh that could be it. Thanks for the guess. :D

Those were my notes, I thought I erased them. Those are just part of my extensive notes, depending if I am breeding a runner or broodmare or possibly both (hard to do).

Riven Gold x Strong and Free Cross (1/5/7) :
1 stakes winner / 5 runners / 7 horses of racing age

Etc, etc.
The search menu is my favorite tool for digging up info on high percentage crosses. I have just recently wondered why I am stuck at a certain level and my BM band isn’t progressing and have deduced that in order to reach the top level one must risk breeding to unproven new sires and not rely on the high percentage crosses of the past seasons. (A chance for Laura Ferguson and Smith to chime in and give up some of their breeding strategy secrets :-) ) .
I hope that clears things up. Carsen
