Curious what you all do when you get a blue hen from mares with not great pedigree?
So far this season I have blue hens by Vernon, Hundred Acre Wood, and World of Color. Typically the first thing I do when breeding is use the search page and identify if there is a sire that has high progeny earning with the given dam side. In all 4 of these cases I can’t see any trend whatsoever. Also don’t have any stallions in my barn to take a free flyer on.
Any tips or tricks with these girls would be appreciated.

Send them to my layaway program. I do the research on relatives, provide hypos and an explanation, and pay the stud fee to breed the foal. You then have until week 4 to reimburse the stud fee and redeem the foal, or decide to reject it and I will pay you the same amount as the stud fee as a "mare lease" and keep the foal.J.P Dogood wrote: ↑11 months ago Curious what you all do when you get a blue hen from mares with not great pedigree?
