Mixer Gallops - How'd You Do?

Post by Jo Ferris »

That time of the year! How'd your gallops go?

I had a VERY large crop, most of which will be getting sold later this year. 231 foals total, 105 fillies, 126 colts.
2 Freaks (0.9%)
16 Stakes (6.9%)
115 Allowance (49.8%!)
82 Productive (35.5%)
16 Solid (6.9%)
No Claimers!

Breaking down by breed:
Appy (1 Colt):
Allowance

Arab (26 total, 8 Filly, 18 Colts):

13 Allowance

96 Allowance

I had a slightly smaller crop than normal and got the following, all paints:

Year 63
Stakes = 3 (9.6%) (Incorrigible DS, The Full Monty DM and Son of a Paint DM)
Allowance = 21 (67.7%)
Productive = 7 (22.6%)

Total = 31

Haven't gotten a freak since adjustments, womp womp, but this group is my highest stakes % post adjustment and my highest allowance and above ever I think. Also nothing less than productive so that was exciting and my first post adjustment stakes dirt sprinter, so also exciting.

We don't need to get into exact numbers or it'll get embarrassing
Paints - majority allowance, nothing better but not a ton worse so I'm satisfied
Appaloosa - less good but some allowance still
QH - another step down in quality, but something will make back the stud fee, dunno why I keep breeding these lol
Arabian - have a stakes sprinter, some allowances, some pasture puffs
Trot - one freak late bloomer, zero stakes, whole bunch of allowance and some below
DENSE FOG - AWS multiple freak producer
YOU WILL BE FOUND - DR millionaire producer
Also standing arabian sprinter ISKANDAR ELAKBAR, all weather router SUNRISE INTHE DAWN, and chasers RACING PIRATE and SURVIVOR SE LEVE

No freaks, but they're actually hard to come by nowadays so that's fine.

Appy Routers: 1 stakes from 11 (Capacity to Win)
Appy Sprinters: 2 stakes from 20 (Cascading Carnage, Alien Lasers)
All three are late bloomers, so may be freaks in time.

Paint Sprinters: no stakes from 15.
QH Mids: no stakes from 11.
In both cases the majority are allowance, none are below productive, and only a couple are peak.

Arabians: allowance and stakes from Router mother and daughter (both went to Midnihte Sandstorm) and a Productive with what might be the last Arabian Sprinter I ever breed (the yearlings dam died. She, her 4yo sister, and another not-yet-retired 4yo are the last chances for the sprinting half of my weird little Arabian side-project).

All up...
0 Freaks (0%) - last year 0%
4 Stakes (6.7%) - last year 7.0%
34 Allowance (56.7%) - last year 51.2%
21 Productive (35%) - last year 34.9%
1 Solid (1.7%) - last year 7.0%

Only 13.3% at peak, including the Appy Sprinter (which is cool; you want them ready to run W1 of their 2yo year anyway).

I still have about a hundred horses to gallop and have 4 stakes foals, so far.

A STBT by Raider out of a mare by TLS Captain Jack S who I campaigned her whole racing life and just retired this year <3
A STBP by Not Just For You our of a mare by Onward Donner
A Arabian Router colt by Heroesalwayswin out of a mare by The Visionary
A Arabian Router filly by Altoproof out of a mare by Rifat

Update -- just got another stakes and a LB out of Raider! Wow.
And another stakes LB Arabian filly by Midnihte Sandstorm out of a Visionary mare.

Lots of solids this year, which is a little unusual for me. Also, lots of Allowance late bloomers which matches the trend of last year.

When I say horrid, I mean horrid. BUT on a positive note I've wanted to cut a breed for years so this will push me to do that!

Appy(21): ZERO Freaks, ZERO Stakes
Arabians (10) Zero Freaks, 5 Stakes (pretty good!)
Paint (11) Zero Freaks, Zero Stakes
QH(39) Zero Freaks,1 Stakes lol
Pacers(31) Zero Freaks, 1 Stakes
Trotter (16) Zero Freaks, 1 Stakes

Seriously though, at this point we really have to just accept that breeding mixers are ALL random and there is no rhyme or reason to it. Unless you breed hundreds in each division so that you can work the averages you are pretty much * out of luck. It's been an issue with mixers since I've played and it sucks. I have to many "blue hen" mares with what would seem to be decent pedigrees throwing absolute cr ap every single year. And yes I know the random slide issue but you can't hit the wrong side of that THAT much. This isn't a this year thing its a years long issue. And before I get any more into a rant I'll just stop here.

If it makes you feel any better I’m one of the largest QH/Appy breeders in the game and I didn’t get any freaks.
Between 1249 QH, Appy, Paint, ZERO freaks.
300 plus pacers, ZERO freaks.
14 trotters, 1 freak…go figure.

I forgot to reply to this thread.

Mixers bred 805.
No freaks.

Appy sprint (48) 3 stakes
Appy mid (33) 1 stakes
Appy route(54) 1 stakes

Paint sprint(64) 2 stakes
Paint mid(39) 4 stakes
Paint route(46) 3 stakes

QH sprint(65) 2 stakes
QH mid(38) 1 stakes
QH route(44) 0 stakes

STBP(62) 5 stakes
STBT(44) 6 stakes

Arabian sprint(72) 4 stakes
Arabian route(196) 16 stakes

So close to having a stakes runner in every category. If even Mr. Lord Rich ended up with 0 freaks, I guess I should be happy with a fair amount of stakes runners.
Polk Buffalo Stallions
Yoboki Arabian Router 40k
Blue Daub Adee Appy Mid 20k
