Zandvoort Retiring Yr 63

Post by Jo Ferris »

Zandvoort will be retiring at the end of this year. He is a 2x G1 winner with over 400k in earnings. Zandvoort is sired by Day Line and out of my great broodmare Talib's Robe. His fee depends on how he nicks (fingers crossed Mary Weather knows what she's taking about when she gives the breeding shed comment), likely around 5-10k.

Quick reminder as everyone is planning their breedings, Zandvoort will retire after the SC, I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the “breeding shed” comment holds some value as Arabs could really use some more stud options

Zandvoort is retired and up for 10k. I work all day so didn’t hypo him much, but he nicked A with 2 mares (that’s on par with other studs for those mares). I’ll give him a proper look late today or tomorrow morning. I’d love to hear what others get for hypos! I don’t have many Arab mares to play with.

Finally got a chance to actually give Zandvoort a proper look. As mentioned, I have a very small Arab barn so not many mares I can nick him with. I nicked him with 6 mares, 3 sprint, 3 route, ALL nicked A. Now the route mares do usually nick A+ with top route studs, but it looks like he may have some ability as a route sire. I sent him a couple routers for S’s and giggles, we’ll see how that goes

Alaskan Heritage A (route)
Kezza A (Sprint)
Love Lies Sleeping A (Sprint)
Missed Opportunity A (Route)
The Alaskan A (Route)
Zadracarta A (Sprint)

I just tried him with some of mine. It looks like he's about on par with Parish President, game-created stallions like Atroxium, GPS stallions like Tallab Al Khalediah, etc., just below the stallions with the best hypos (Sleeping Dragon, Kooshaa, etc.). I can give some exact ratings when I get home.

There's not many of those top hypoing stallions left, and those that are should pension soon, so he's in good company.

Thank you!!! So he seems to be fairly decent, not the best of the best, granted many of those guys are pensioned now, but respectable. Happy to see this, Arabs could use some new decent stallions after losing most of the heavy hitters

Leasing ZANDVOORT for the remainder of year he’s continuing to stand for $5000

A 2yo daughter I have of his improved to STAKES this year! Check her out

Here is a promising 2yo colt from a Adel mare

If you have a nice Arab mare or two to breed consider Zandvoort, he's beautifully bred and was a Grade 1 winner beating both Khal Drogo and Frontier Apples in his career. Again only for $5000 hes definitely worth a look see …

Stallions
*Silver Kitty Cat
*Macha Taima
*Rockin to the Stars & more
Past Stallions
*Black Wolf *Blue Montana Gold *Fire Fire *Streakin Goldstrip
*Bear Encounter *Blood Red Sun *Held High and other greats
