hypos

Hi guys am sure i have asked before but cannot find the post anywhere.

I have some mares when i click on hypos it gives a list of horses that are b+ or another figure lower down to C.

Can i breed with the horses that show B+ when able to breed again.

Not a very clear question i know but not sure what hypos is all about

Hypos show you a rating from C- to A+ of how good the match up of a certain stud and mare is, potentially. Note that it’s not a total certainty, you might get an A+ hypo and get a Claimer, and a B hypo and get a Freak. It’s just to give you a rough idea.

A rating of B+ is the most common and generally I take it to mean the sire and dam match up well. You can breed any pair of horses no matter the rating but if you get anything below B I wouldn’t pursue that mating personally.

I also want to add that an A or A+ in some divisions are very achievable (e.g. chasers and some mixers) and that in some divisions, even an A- is great (e.g. dirt routers, turf routers etc.) and a B+ hypo is certainly very good!

So i have this mare and the hypos read.

At the Gallows End B+
Ghost On the Shelf B+
Lovely Day B+
Sole Power B+

Does that mean those horses would be worth a shot......in my small way.

Hi Frank,

To add a little, a B+ in All Weather is usually a nice rating a worth looking in to. I will say horses like At The Gallows End aren't standing anymore so you might want to try the mare with someone like Stab Thru The Heart and Hooray whom both hypo well.

Have bred the horse to Hooray a few days ago called it Hooray its hot lol

Will try Stab Through The Heart aswell.
