Confidence
How does one determine a horse's confidence level? TYIA.

Re: Confidence
There’s no way to actually measure it (that we know of anyway) and the only way you can tell is by the horse’s performance. If your horse is running below par in races they were winning or placing in before, their confidence might be knocked but it could be other things too (not enough rest, too much rest, tougher opposition turning up, unfit, downgrade in ability etc.).
The only way you know your horse has full confidence going into a race, is when the last race they had was a barrier trial (this gives you full confidence no matter where the horse finishes).

Re: Confidence
"Pet this horse", I assumed this was just fluff. It might be but if it has any usefulness at all it seems it would probably pertain to confidence. IDK but lately when I'm on the horse page I hit it just in case.

Re: Confidence
I searched the Forum and found references only made to an increased confidence level from BTs but did not see any mention of BTs raising it to full (100%) confidence level. Where did you read or hear about raising it to full (100%) confidence level?Carole Hanson wrote: ↑2 years ago ...

(I did read that the finish position in a BT does not impact the confidence level boost.)

Re: Confidence
I thought it was on the barrier trials page but I don't see it there. I am fairly certain Em has mentioned this somewhere before but I guess I might be wrong.Ronnie Dee wrote: ↑2 years agoI searched the Forum and found references only made to an increased confidence level from BTs but did not see any mention of BTs raising it to full (100%) confidence level.
