Are you enjoying all your free food? The city of Henderson (Nevada) called up my wife and I and asked if we wanted meals delivered since the nearby senior center is closed. This week they delivered 14 microwavable meals, 2 loafs of bread, and a gallon of milk. Hopefully, we will finish all this food before next week's delivery. :D

I'm in the hardest hit county in Oregon. Our stay at home order came March 23rd, but some businesses were closed by that state before then. Same with restaurants being take out only longer. I work from home and have since I started this job. Still going back and forth between our apartment in town and the farm. So, not much is changing for me. Other than I'm seriously limiting my time on the news and social media. Like Gigi, our community FB page is showing a side of the community I don't want to participate in.

To Gwayne - I was in college in during H1N1 (I actually got H1N1) and I have friend who contracted COVID-19. These are totally different beasts. COVID-19 is more contagious and hits harder.

I'm pretty lucky. I am a professor at a college, so my job is not at risk (for now) and I can work remotely. Definitely going to be interesting what this means for our College long term and I have had to shut down my research which might become a problem down the line (I had animals due for breeding to start a new generation) but I am in a better place than a lot of people.

Likewise, things aren't great here in PA (over 2,000 cases) but we seem to be doing a lot better than NJ and NY, so that is something. We've also seen our numbers of new cases saying pretty steady in the 530-560 range the last 3 days. I am hoping that is actually a sign of us leveling off some and not just that is our testing capacity.

My father who is obviously older and has lung issues is freaking out. He is doing all sorts of simulations and researching data and sends me multiple e-mails a day on this. He wanted to get his groceries delivered (he is not the type of guy who would ever do such a thing) because he's afraid to go out and had to wake up at midnight just to get a slot a week out and he of course has no way of knowing whether what he wants will even be in stock.

I am on a slack group with a bunch of other faculty members and as such a bunch of other scientists. They started a covid slack channel at the end of February. By early March a subset of members there made it very clear that people should be social distancing and we were on a crash course to where we are now. Good for me as I was able to stock up on supplies before things got bad and the panic buying started, but also frustrating that our leaders either weren't getting or weren't heading this same advice from scientists. Can't help but wonder how much better off we'd be if the NYCs of this world were shut down sooner.

Wow. I guess I need to start going to the senior center.

I live in Brazoria County, just south of Houston, Texas. We are now seeing an increase in the number of positive cases. Harris, Brazoria, Galveston, Fort Bend and several other counties are now closed, except for essential services. My daughter, niece and nephew are all employed by essential services.

My place of employment has closed until at least April 6. Which is good timing for me, personally. I had to finally call in the hospice people for my father, as he is failing rapidly. He can no longer stand or walk, has absolutely no sense of balance or depth perception. He has fallen several times in the last 2 weeks. Of course, the corona virus mess has made it difficult. The sarcoma tumor on his right forearm is growing at a rapid rate. M D Anderson can not do anything else for him, due to his age (90) and health condition. They say eventually, the tumor will grow so large it will burst, or burst a main vessel inside, and he will bleed out in seconds.

He is currently in a hospital bed set up in our living room, with all the related items required. The hospices are desperately trying to keep patients out of their in facilities, and I am relieved about that. I am administering morphine drops as required, and other medications to help keep him calm. He is eating very little and sleeping most of the day and night. Nurses, CNA's, etc come in several times a week to assist, and all wear masks before they even come into the home.

I haven't had time to keep up with much of the corona virus news. This is the hardest thing I have ever done in my life, to date.

Michigan had a huge jump today, 993 new cases, I think we're now 4th for most cases in a state. Thankfully my area isn't too bad yet. No sign of it leveling off anytime soon (last 3 days new cases reported: 564, 801, 993). 4,650 confirmed cases total in the state right now, I imagine that'll be at or above 10,000 by the end of the week. Detroit is just getting hammered, right now it's on track to be worse than New York. Really worried about my grandma who's just outside of Detroit. Hoping this slows soon, hospitals are starting to get overwhelmed throughout the state, not sure how much more they can take. Detroit hospitals are already at capacity and expected to get far worse before it gets better. They're starting to set up temporary hospitals in Detroit

Not Great. But very little to do with COVID-19. I’m very good at seeming like sunshine and rainbows, but it’s not been a great few months. An it hit another valley yesterday, valley isn’t a strong enough word...canyon? Crevasse?

Please send hugs 💔 (more to my husband than me. He’s going through some serious *)

I came home from college in order to put myself in a safer environment due to the outbreak, as I would be a high-risk patient.

Today I found out someone I live with has been lying about being isolated in his workspace in addition to making frivolous trips. So, now I'm not feeling so great. Quite the opposite.

Sending much love, thoughts, and prayers to all you guys. It's going to be okay. It has to be.

I'm doing well. We got a new pet a few weeks ago, a Tortoise so we've been experiencing the joy of learning to care for a new family member. We homeschool but we haven't been able to do the things my son is involved in... gymnastics, karate. We built some bike ramps so he's been riding his bike, and taking the dog for a walk. We've been gardening and planting seeds. Trying to find joy in the things we CAN do at home. My husband is in the Navy so his job is stable. However he was on track to get medical separation because he was diagnosed with early onset Parkinson's disease. So that's a tough one for us. However I believe we will be OK.

Business wasn’t great before the virus hit the news. I closed the doors a few days before our mandatory shut down. Considering that we don’t know how long it will last, it’s probably the end of a company my aunt founded back in the fifties. On the positive side, my old age benefits and pension have kicked in, so I have a bit of money coming in and I am healthy. My sister and her husband are my support system and they are both well. So, all in all, I’m ok.

I pray all of my fellow simsters stay well!
