That One Good Horse

SIMsters should be able to relate to this.

Being a bookkeeper and an advisor for a popular small business accounting software, I went to see someone who wanted help using their bookkeeping software. They live in a rural town and had some acreage, with a few horses out at pasture. So, after getting business taken care of, I started asking about their horses. She said that they were old retired cutting horses, and their family used to be involved in that sport. At the peak of their involvement, they had twenty-two foals (!) one season to "try to get that good one." None were that good. Then she said, "You can't compete with the big outfits that have two hundred foals a year, and even those don't get that one special horse."

We all still keep trying for that one special horse.

Good story. Certainly most here can relate to the randomness of it all. Still would rather have 20 head as opposed to 200 however. To each their own.
