TV Adverts

Post by Darren Rook »

This advert from the 1980s is my all-time fav. I remember it so well.

Perhaps it's because it had horses.
Perhaps it's because it was funny.
Perhaps it's because it fooled you thinking the advert finished.

Who knows...it worked....wish there were more like this. Quality.

Take a look and feel free in posting your favs.

This is a iconic New Zealand advert from the 1970s that they still played 25-30 years later (keep a eye on the old lady that is knitting!) https://youtu.be/A3laBRBPfQ4

"The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson" used to feature winners of the Cleo Awards, which was for advertising. I don't know how many decades ago it was, or what the brand was, but one of the Cleo winners was a French TV ad for wine. A lady was serving the wine to guests in her home. A guest asked for a re-fill and the host said, "Sorry, I'm out." The guest was so upset that he starting making growling noises beneath breath, which got stronger, and then he started growing hair on his hands -- turning into a werewolf, because there there wasn't any more wine. Too funny!

This is one of my favourites. It's about the horse Vinnie - trying to accomplish his dream to become the "World's Greatest Racehorse".
The story has been run in Sweden by a gaming company since 2014.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ipZzSuxpWt0

The story may be better to just watch, but i've tried to translate the Swedish just in case.
The story begins with Vinnie being born but the farmer walking into the kitchen after the foaling tells his wife (?) "something's wrong with him - as small as a sucking-pig, we'll have to wait and see if he survives".
0:24 Vinnie's mother tells him "all horses can achieve something big"
0:28 Vinnie's mother is taken away from the farm for reason unknown to Vinnie and his father
0:34 Vinnie's father falls into depression by the loss, quits his work, and tries to mitigate the pain with TV-series.
1:00 By chance Vinnie sees his mother on TV winning a race. Vinnie decides to follow in her footsteps and become the World's Greatest Trotter.
1:12 Vinnie moves away from home. His people questions his decision: "Why go to the city? Just drugs and fights.." The oldest man makes jokes questioning his dream, the woman begs him to stay home and trot close to home instead".
1:20 Nothing stops Vinnie. Decision is made.
1:36 End End "I never forget mother's words - no dream is too big"
and then follows at least five years (I think?) of new stories revolving around Vinnie's efforts to become a racehorse.

This is my FAVOURITE commercial from when I was a kid, I think everyone my age wanted a house hippo. Who wouldn’t?! It’s from 1999, not bad editing imo haha
