Names too good for any horse

Post by Lisa Bennert »

Have to distract myself right now, so I was wondering, does anybody else have a Name (or several) reserved for that one horse that never seems to come around? :D
Since I've started playing I have reserved a couple Special names but whenever I have a really nice yearling I Always think "But what if this one turns out to be a dud? Does he/she really deserve the Name?" lol
If you do, what are your Special names and do they have a Story? :)

Patriot, after my RL horse. I've had the horse for over 5.5 years since he was born, reserved it in April 2015, and still no SIM pony I've felt is worthy. Be nice to have something saying "hey, this one, it's totally worthy of that special name"
Arabian:

I have many 😅 and lots I’ve named special names end up duds.

Probably my favourite is Isabelle, my daughter’s name. I would have Tobias reserved for my son but I’m assuming that one is forever in Nena’s barn 😜

I renamed my 1yo paint freak colt to Rockslide, my son likes to make HUGE messes and then call them rockslides lol

I also renamed one of my improvers to No Never, because that’s also a classic Tobias phrase 😂

There is also Uppie, how Izzy says up please.

Beau, because such a cute name for a stallion
Duck, because of auto correct
Mooch Patrol, what I called my herd of cats
Shut Up and Dance, my theme song
Talk Derby to Me, for if I every have a freaky DR colt lol
Test Tickles, for Em to say during a live call 😈 (love you lol)
Tuna, after my kitty Luna since Luna is way taken lol
Winchester, after favourite show characters!
Abhorsen, favourite book series

Oh goodness, I could go on forever lol. Needless to say I have more names than I feel like I could ever possibly use...but I can’t stop.

I've put some really nice names on dud horses....but the good thing is, I can keep trying lol.
I think I found the right horse to put one name on, a name I've had in reserve for a Long time and that was:

Roughian

My original idea with the name was to put it on a colt, and I wanted it to be a turf router. But no colts came along and I finally got a stakes type yearling and tagged her with the name.

So far, she's not disappointed me, even finished 2nd against the boys in the million dollar Louisville Bunbury recently. Her last race was a G1 against fillies and she won that. I have a headshot on order for her. I usually only buy those for horses that win a million dollars in purse money....she's a bit shy of that, but I think she'll tip the mark soon.

Names I reserved, some of them ages ago, and haven't used:
~Vercingetorix
~Twerp (btw, is the nick name for my golden retriever, AU)
~Tabasco
~Seven of Nine
~Gunsmoke
~And..if male twins, or maybe two full brothers from different years: Starsky, and Hutch.

Also famous males, in my reserved names:
Abe Vigoda - actor
Carl Sagan - scientist
Davy Jones - singer from the group the Monkees
Gallagher - comedian
Jackie Chan - actor
James Arness - actor
Jim Caviezel - actor
Junjin - singer from the Kpop group Shinhwa
Michael Emerson - actor
Nestor Carbonell -actor
Paul Newman - actor
Robert Redford - actor

Other names I liked that haven't yet seen a good horse through several uses.
~Threetequilafloor
~Skirts a Flying
~Agamemnon
~Beast
~Billy Jack
~Extreme Ways

I had Kingslayer reserved FOREVER, like since I read the first book. I tried it out once to no avail, but my patience paid off. I’m thrilled with the result.

Heh I'm the worst for sitting on reserved names. I've had some since the "30s," I'm sure.

The hardest ones for me to use are sets of matched names (for twins) that I fall in love with, usually lyrics... but twins are rare enough, let alone actually decent ones. I had "Know You Love Her" and "Let Her Go" and just bit the bullet and used one. Still sitting on a couple more matched pairs... waiting for those once-in-a-SIM-lifetime twin freaks

I have a TON of composer/violinist names reserved:

Bruch
Corelli
Dvorak
Elgar
Hahn
Heifetz
Joachim
John Williams
Mahler
Oistakh
Paganini
Rachmaninoff
Rimsky Korsakov
Tchaikovsky
Vengerov
Verdi

And then some movie/book/game related names:
Centineo
Kaer Mohren
Peter Kavinsky
Velen

And a couple that I really like or that are sentimental:
Heckin' Good (inspired by Dog rates Twitter account)
Souti (the name of my dog which I used already once but I've reserved it for a very special horse since my doggo is so special to me)
The Force of Destiny (this one is very specifically waiting for a foal from La Forza since her companion cat is called Del Destino, together making The Force of Destiny which is an incredible piece of music by the way)

Ahaha maybe I should ;) my turf sprinter luck seems to be changing for the better so maybe I’d be able to get a couple foals worthy of the names!
