Party at the Hospital!

Post by Lily Wilkins »

So last night around 6:00, we went over to our friend's place for a game night. I was a day past my due date but didn't feel like anything was going to happen anytime soon. HA.. HAHA... HA....

Fast-forward ten whole minutes... My water broke, but I had no contractions. I decided to play it safe and call the hospital; of course they told me to come in. So literally minutes before I would have gotten our friend's delicious nachos with my absolute favorite home made salsa, we had to bail and head to Labor and Delivery. They confirmed that it was, indeed my water breaking and decided to admit me.
It's now been almost 24 hours. I have not had a single active labor contraction. The machine they are monitoring me/baby with is picking up contractions, but I don't really feel anything  so now there's talk of slipping me something to get contractions going because apparently there's "risk of infection" due to the fact that my water broke. *Sigh* so much for my zero-intervention, drug-free labor. UGH!!! I am immensely frustrated, but trying to stay positive. My baby is doing so great right now, that the last thing I want is for the drug they give me to intensify my labor to the point that he gets stressed and starts to crash.

This kinda sucks, yet could be worse at the same time.

Nachos and salsa should induce contractions. Have somebody sneak those in. :P

I had to be induced with both my girls. Nasty back labor. I tried finding a circus and went for an elephant ride with my first. It didn’t start labor but did convince my doc it was time to setup a delivery date.

Best of luck. Safe labor!

Thanks guys! When my body finally decided to kick things into gear, baby was out after just 1 hour 15 minutes of active labor and 40 minutes of pushing. He was "sunny side up" and my medical team was impressed with how quickly he got out.
I had zero painkillers, no epidural, and besides my poor tummy looking like a deflated balloon I have bounced back from labor beautifully.

Baby Quentin was born at 3:31AM on 02/10/2020. Thank goodness he was only 7.75lbs and not 8.5lbs like the midwife was predicting LOL. He is a total angel-baby. There's not a difficult bone in his little body; he isn't fussy, nurses like a pro, and is all-around thriving. I am madly in love and basically can't look at him without wanting to cry, he makes my heart so happy.
