2020 keeps getting worse...

So on Tuesday morning I get a text from my sister that her husband Vlad was the victim of a hit and run while crossing a street, and was in extremely critical condition. He suffered many severe injuries and faces a challenging and uncertain road to recovery.

Him and my sister Lori are the parents of two beautiful 18-month old twin girls who mean everything to them. The path ahead is daunting, and they need all the help they can get. Lori has started a GoFundMe for medical expenses. Any and all support would be greatly appreciated.

Danny, I am so so very sorry that this has happened to your family, absolutely awful that someone can hurt a human being like that and take no responsibility for it. I am praying that Vlad recovers well, though I know his recovery will be long and hard.

Sorry to hear about your brother in law. I hope everything turns out ok.

Back in the 1980's I had an uncle in Boise, who after drinking at a near by bar, decided to do the right thing an walk home...which was only about 4 blocks away. He was well off the road, but was hit by a guy who was drinking and driving. The injuries were life threatening, lots of broken bones, head trauma, and he was in a coma for a few weeks. The doctors told my aunt that they didn't think he would survive the night. But, he woke up about 2 weeks later, the bones eventually healed. He does have dent in his head, but his hair hides it when he lets it grow a little longer. But he came out of everything ok and even went back to work as a long haul truck driver after a year of recovery / physical therapy.

While my uncle and your brother in law might have totally different injuries, hopefully, with the advancement of medical science and drugs, compared to the 1980's, your brother in law will still have a similar results, and in time be able to heal with no serious issues from the accident.

That is my hope for your brother in law...that in spite of the bad injuries, he will eventually be ok.
