Horse Name Fun/Coincidences

Post by Rochelle Bos »

I can’t find the post in the the Thoroughbred category so I thought I would add it here. It no secret I love names especially when they fit perfectly or are hilarious, and I love weird coincidences that happen with them!

For instance I named a filly Nanny, and when I was finding equipment last night “Trainer: 'Nanny' doesn't have any behavioral problems so she doesn't need any equipment.” 🤣

Then there was a colt named Wing Man and one of his equipment pieces was Sure Win, the other was No Whip 🤣

This morning I named a foal Hippopotamus, cause his sire is Twelve Days of Christmas 🤣

Please share your fun names, and coincidences! 🥰 (I definitely will be! So I can share my excitement SOMEWHERE 🤪)

I love coming up with names, could sit here and talk about them all day, a lot that I just find pretty - but if I were to focus on just a handful where I thought myself a little bit clever, here's a small selection:

If the sire is named Irish Caught, and the dam is named Frieswiththatshake, of course I go with the common denominator and name the foal Potato.
Prayer I Am x Bishinga = Bish You Wish
Moon House x Moonbase Alpha = Moonar Eclipse
See You Monday x Go Loco = Manic Mondays
And, perhaps not my proudest moment, but once the idea came to mind, it fit the pedigree too well and I couldn't resist... https://www.simhorseracing.com/horse.ph ... ID=1303984

I think the best silly name I ever came up with was:

Pizza She Ate -- Perfect Night x Fertilizer

https://www.simhorseracing.com//horse.p ... eID=375546

The name works with the sire's name as pizza can make for a perfect night.
But it also works for the dam....just say Pizza She Ate outloud or in your head several times...if you don't get it right away. ;)

Oh... one more...

Everyone has heard of social media attention seekers who end up dead trying to do stupid things while trying make or follow some of those dangerous trends
.
The name for this horse... I took my inspiration from those kinds of incidents that had me dumbfounded as to why people do such things.

I have a few names i'm proud of and they fall into a few categories.
down right awful homebreds that I gave very mean names.

A few of my best examples

A Million Sads (Stewardbred dam only a solid progressive)

True Bottom Barrel (Claimer Peak)

Not So Fantastic (Claimer Progressive)

Here are some goofier ones

Plastics Juvenile

Biggggggggggg Name

Named At Night (more specifically 5am)

The Unplanned One (Ironically she's way better then her twin brother)
"Nathan you tweaking"

I was today years old when I learn that Nowitzki is a basketball player 🤣 (PS breed to him, his pedigree is 😘 and he’s now 15 😱)

Which led me to naming his Highlight colt Allyoop, not only a totally fun word to say but a backer all thing!

Ally-oop: a basketball play in which a leaping player catches a pass above the basket and immediately dunks the ball

I had the privilege of leasing Sea Hear Now (who is named after an annual music festival held in Jew Jersey) and I bred her to Private Affair. The resulting filly is aptly named Dirty Little Secret
Hopefully she doesn't become just another regret!!

I had a major crush on Tyson Ritter when I was a tween girl lol.
