I'm alive and I weigh one organ less!

Post by Aloretta Dethly »

I had my gallbladder removed today.

I got super sick in September and was told it was a tenacious intestinal virus. Turns out... nope. Apparently my gallbladder has been nonfunctional since at least 2017. The general surgeon looked back at a test I had done in 2017 and saw that my PIPIDA scan just had a black hole where my gallbladder was supposed to be. Anyway today it got evicted.

Feeling ok, just sore, tired, and nauseous.

Aloretta, hope you are feeling better soon. Had mine out over 25 years ago and haven't missed it at all. Take it easy and be gentle with yourself.

With your gall bladder kicked out, hopefully you will be feeling much, much better, after you are all healed up. Glad it went well for you!

I had mine removed around 1985.

I *think* but am not sure, it's the reason why I can't digest meat like I use to...I love meat, but it just sits like rock in my stomach and takes a long time to digest. From what I remember, it's suppose to help digest fats, so maybe it's the marbled fat in steaks, or like pork products (bacon, sausages..etc) that is the cause of it. I can still eat meat, but I eat it pretty slow, chew it well and don't eat that much of it. Other than that, I haven't really missed it...or my appendix. The doctors haven't got my tonsils though! lol.

I hope you recover from your surgery without any issues.
