Renaming horses

Post by Nick Gilmore »

This is the second time, but when I try to use one of my reserved names it doesn't let me. The name area gets highlighted pink and below it says "This field is required". I can type the name in and while it tells me the name is used, if I proceed, it will accept the name.

When you rename a horse, and have reserved names, a pop-up menu appears with all your reserved names listed. My thought was that you'd always choose a reserved name from the menu since that is faster than typing the name. My guess is that you are typing the reserved name. It is noticing that the name is in use, but when you submit the rename form, it notices that you own that name so the rename happens successfully.

Can you confirm that you are typing the name rather than choosing it from the pop-up menu?
Is the pop-up menu useful?
Perhaps we can find a way to let you type the name as well as using the pop-up without displaying a false warning.

When it happened to me, I tried to choose from the pop-up menu (like I always have) and it forced me to also type the name in the text box before it would accept it.

I chose it from the pop up menu - it usually refuses it a few times and then accepts it.

Thanks for explaining your experiences with renaming. It should be better now. You can type the reserved name or choose it from the menu.
