Post by Jay Baker »

So im trying to play on my phone and tablet but every time i go to the buy/lease horse page, the website loads the freezes. Ive tried viewing in desktop view and in mobile view. Has anyone else experienced this problem? If so how did you fix it?

Yeah this happens, you can't fix it you just have to wait. It'll load eventually.

That one page is the slowest loading page in the game, I think. It even hangs my computer sometimes.
If the Admin is looking for some extra work someday (HA!) I think it might be helpful if the page didn't populate immediately -- so you had to select some filters before it started loading.

This is related to this thread... viewtopic.php?f=7&t=41761&p=367157&hilit=500#p367157

Our main horse listing pages, which includes the Buy/Lease page, will list up to 500 horses at once on the page. Much of the work is done in your own browser. Mobile browsers may tend to be slower at processing the huge, complicated page. The fewer horses that are listed at once, the faster it goes. If we reduced the 500 down to 100 it would seem super fast. You'd still be able to sort and 'quick filter' the entire set, but only see 100 at a time.

Thought, could you code it so that if it detected a mobile browser it would only display 100 listings? Then the mobile would load faster and we would still have the benefit of having 500 on non-mobile browsers?

I know! I know! Coding mobile vs desktop is a pain. And doesn't consistently work. Cause why standardize things?
But he did such an awesome job on the new site....

On the other hand, am I gonna be the first person the admin tries the forum foe setting on?
