Good video explaining race horse names.

Post by Stormy Peak »

I watch this guy's videos all the time...he really does his research and you never know what his next topic will be about, and here's one he posted the yesterday.

I was happy to see he did mention Bodacious TaTa's who was a hard working mare I use to follow. Most of us probably know the naming rules, but he still makes it interesting to hear them and he brought up a few names in the past and totally ignored the most Obvious one that most people almost always comment on... and that being Hoof Hearted. I think it's a funny name, but it seems like everyone knows it, and I'm kind of glad he skipped it and talked instead about a few other names....which I'm sure some of us are familiar with. : )

That one was funny : )

In reading back into pedigrees of T-bred...like going into the early 1800's and such, it's surprising how many funny, but often crude and risque some of the names were.

In the same vein, I had a friend who named a horse ‘For All You Mothers’. If you knew this guy, you’d suspect the worse, but the foal was orphaned at birth, on Mothers Day. His heart truly was in the right place, that time anyway, lol
